Uncharted 4 Not The Most Anticipated PS4 Exclusive Anymore?
After E3, perhaps a changing of the guard has taken place in the PlayStation world.
I know Sony ended their amazing conference with Uncharted 4: A Thief's End gameplay, as most expected (it was the only expected part of the entire show, in fact). And that footage, despite the hiccup at the start, was suitably impressive.
I don't think anybody would deny that Uncharted 4 is a hugely important title for PlayStation 4 and has every chance of being the best game of 2016. Still, the competition is already heating up for next year and given what Sony showed off, one has to wonder: Has Naughty Dog's upcoming blockbuster been supplanted by another PS4 exclusive that's kinda like the flavor of the month right now?
Obviously, I think there are two games that might vie for the most-wanted PS4 exclusive crown right now. One is The Last Guardian, which triumphantly returned and is now scheduled for 2016 (and at least we have good reason to trust that new estimate). Then there's the extremely promising Horizon: Zero Dawn from Killzone developer Guerrilla Games. That project has a massive amount of potential and already looks absolutely stellar. There's a ton of buzz for the new IP, too.
We can't really cite the Final Fantasy VII Remake, as ridiculously huge as that announcement was at E3. For one, it's only a timed exclusive and second, it's a remaster, not really a new game. Even so, I think that too served to steal a little of Uncharted 4's thunder and as a result, as strange as it may seem, Nathan Drake's last adventure seems to have taken a back seat.
Weird how fast that happens, isn't it?
