Want Some Call Of Duty Remasters?

Remakes and remasters have become big business in the new generation.

And maybe if "big" is a subjective term, especially for a publisher like Activision, the possibility still exists:

Call of Duty remasters.

In a new Game Informer interview with Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg, the question of remasters for the blockbuster franchise arose:

"If done well, I think [remasters] can be great. You talk about nostalgia, and people have such connection to the games they love from the last cycle. They want to see what it would look like if someone did it right for this cycle."

Hirshberg added that it would come down to the "opportunity cost," in that Activision doesn't want to try such projects if they jeopardized the development of fresh series entries. He also said he "would love to play Modern Warfare or the original Black Ops" on new consoles, but they need to find "great people to do that work."

No remaster is going to make as much as a new CoD (most likely), so of course, you can understand Activision's position. But maybe going even further back would be intriguing; maybe a remake of the original Call of Duty...? What do you think?

I wouldn't mind some fresh new games to go with my remasters.

This is passed the point of pathetic now and before the brigade of remaster gimps put mitt to keyboard, we know we don't have to buy these remasters but it doesn't mean we have to like them bombarding the market either.

Doesn't matter what the name of the game is: Uncharted, Tekken, Call of Duty etc. Remasters are not new games and if we want to play these games we will keep our PS3's or 360's that they were originally designed for and play them on those. Please move on from this phase ffs!

While I generally agree with you, I do think the idea of a remaster is cool in theory. I mean I sometimes think back to my favourite ps2 games and wonder how awesome it would be to see them on the new consoles and I imagine many other people do too (after all there's obviously a market for remasters). However, what most people don't realize is that it's not simply a case of just turning the settings from normal to ultra, remasters take some time and effort and I think most gamers can agree that we'd rather that time and effort was spent on a whole new experience.

Edit: Also remasters are a way for people to play old MP games that aren't online anymore, and honestly I'd rather play some MW than this new futuristic crap that CoD is doing.

While you are generally right with the "not new" comment, I was excited when I heard that the FFX remaster was going to include more content than when I played the game on PS2. That is definitely the exception and not the rule though.

Not if it's all that world war crap, maybe in another 5 years people will somewhat miss it. Now battlefield definitely has some room for a remake with the likes of Battlefield 2142, i think that game would do damn well as a ps4 remake what with the crap that was Battlefield Hardline being released

Eh, I have to say no, especially for choking out $60+ for a game that devs don't patch their games enough.. HACKERSR4LOSERS.

No I don't want them.
But I don't mind them doing it.
Gamers complaining just need to get used to the fact that, like movies, there's people who like having yesterday's favorites freshened up for a new standard. Did this community not love having FFX remastered?
I like that classics like Star Wars or LoTR didn't stay exclusive on VHS or DVD. There's a market for this stuff so if you're not interested then it's not for you.

And next time you're at Walmart or target or best buy be sure to roll your eyes, feeling offended, through the music and blu-Ray movie section.

I'd rather them remake the maps and put them into the new COD games. It would take less time and much less resources.

With COD - all I would want is the multiplayer maps - all the Modern Warfare trilogy maps and weapons in one pack would be nothing short of epic.

I wouldn't mind some of the PS2 era WW2 CoD's getting a remaster. Out of the more modern CoD's only one that I might play would be 4 any of the others I couldn't care less.

YES PLEASE!!! Remake Modern Warfare II and be sure to put in the Spec Ops mode. That was my favorite co-op portion of any game to date.

Yes! I would love a remaster of Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2. Don't really care for the other ones, minus Black Ops 2 maybe.
