Rory McIlroy Inherits Madden Curse?
Hey, that Madden Curse thing seemed awfully real.
Whenever an athlete would land the cover of a new Madden NFL installment, something bad would happen that year. Injuries were atop the list but sometimes, that player just had a down year.
And now, after current #1 golfer Rory McIlroy replaced reigning golf legend Tiger Woods in EA's PGA Tour franchise, the curse appears to have returned with a vengeance. It's a mere one week before the new game launches, and McIlroy has gone down with an injury. He has suffered a "total rupture" of the left ankle ligament and associated joint capsule. He was playing soccer with friends at the time.
The 26-year-old is rehab-ing now but he tells The Washington Post that there's only a 10 percent chance he'll play in the British Open next week at St. Andrews.
Rory McIlroy PGA Tour launches on July 14 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. ...dude, the curse is like, so back. And it's bouncing across sports now!
