Super Stardust HD "Spiritual Successor" Coming To PS4

One of the more accomplished PSN developers is currently working on a project that will dazzle your brain.

Those of you who remember Super Stardust HD will recall the vivid explosion of color you saw on your screen. Just imagine how much prettier it will be on the PlayStation 4...

Housemarque, an award-winning developer of downloadable hit titles like Dead Nation and Outland, has announced that they're cranking away on a "spiritual successor" to Super Stardust HD. It'll be a PS4 exclusive, too.

Said studio CEO Ilari Kuittinen:

"We are super excited to be working on Sony’s next-gen hardware. The platform’s performances are enabling us to do things that wouldn’t be possible otherwise and we truly believe that better technology can lead to better gameplay. The more tools and resources we have at our disposal, the better. Think of Super Stardust HD: at the time, PlayStation 3 gave us the opportunity to populate the game with thousands of interactive objects and implement the game’s famous ‘spherical gameplay’. Today, we can take advantage of the architecture of PlayStation 4 to create incredible visuals with direct impact on the way the new game feels."

The team is also working on another unannounced PS4 project. It's nice to see them fully on board with Sony's new console, isn't it? We'll get more information on both titles in question "in the coming months" but for now, it's just fun to picture a "spiritual successor" to SSHD.

Top Playstation execs have said it will be the biggest console launch in history. Not sure if he meant for Sony, or in general.

SSHD was awesome, beautiful graphics on the HDTV, getting the 10x multiplier definately took some patience.

SSHD to me will always be remembered as a controller killer. After a week of playing, your controller is only good for this game.

Super Stardust HD was ok, but Super Stardust Delta (for vita) was AMAZING! I find this game better on the go, but still will probably have to get it.

Coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!

I loved SSHD on the PS3. It was my first PSN game. Spent countless hours on it! Can't wait to see this one.

The girl and I actually really enjoy Dead Nation. Still on the track to finishing it through co-op on Grim.

So just take my money on the PS4 devs
