EA: E3 2012 Felt Like "Half A Show" With No Next-Gen
No new hardware, no huge excitement.
Or so says EA. With no next-generation hardware announcement from either Sony or Microsoft, EA Labels boss Frank Gibeau said E3 2012 was "only half a show", and third-parties were allowed to shine.
"You're only really getting half a show this year. You're getting Wii U but you're not getting the other half of the story so it's a bit awkward. Within that context I think a lot of the third-parties definitely stand out and command more of the spotlight because it's a clear and more broad-based message."
As for EA's next-gen projects, Gibeau said now isn't the time to talk about them. He said that "gamers are smart" and they'll sniff out a pre-rendered movie or something like that. So it's important to give them something realistic; Gibeau cited last year's 14 minutes of Battlefield 3 gameplay as an example of what they'd want to deliver to the fans. Until they can, they'll keep their fancy futuristic titles under wraps.

no one expected and wanted next gen systems this year!
all we wanted was a few more new games to be announced, and something that we cant see coming from 100KMs away!
i mean dead space 3 was not exactly surprising everyone saw it coming, and not only because so much of it had been leaked!
if EA were to reveal BLACK 2 for instance everyone would of been sh*tting bricks!
if ubisoft were to reveal beyond good and evil 2 everyone would of been sh*tting bricks!
if M$ was to reveal a new banjo kazooie game everyone would of been sh*tting bricks!
if $ony was to reveal 8 days and the getaway 3 everyone would of been sh*tting bricks!
E3 was a massive disappointment because of the lack of new game announcements.
and the few that were there were not exactly surprising!

BTW rather late update, I'm hoping you were too busy watching Lebron destroy the Celtics.
