Sucker Punch Goes The Extra Mile With inFamous: Second Son

We don't often take time to analyze each and every NPC we see wandering around our wide open virtual worlds. But maybe that's because in the past, we only saw a few different character models.

Everything will change in the new generation, though, as evidenced by the strides taken by inFamous: Second Son developer Sucker Punch.

In an interesting Game Informer report, the talented team decided to scan a real person's face to become an extra; just some dude or dudette wandering around the environment. They scanned over 75 people in just three days, so "this means that nearly every citizen you see walking around" in the game is based off a real person. The process is worth checking out.

This will undoubtedly make the adventure that much more immersive. Now we might be stopping to look at all the people around us!

They're unfortunately not known well enough outside of the PlayStation fans (unlike Naughty Dawg), but they make up an awesome developing company that puts out great games this gen. I'm very excited for this game. I'll surely pre-order it.

I bet they had a lot of fun making Second Son, pushing fun tech and breaking out of basic restrictions like having to recycle.

I'm curious about why they are taking this new direction of placing it in a real city.

inFamous is such a great franchise and Sucker Punch just doesn't get enough credit. Kudos to them for going the extra mile! Excited for this game for sure.

really?
is this really going to add that much more to the game to warrant the extra expenses and work?
i dont think anyones ever said, gee seeing the same face over and over again is really taking me out of the story!
nice to have attention to detail, but i think this is a little *too* anal retentive!

Now this is what I have been talking about. Finally we got the power to add some more much needed detail and life to the surroundings.

Up until now open world style games have been *choked*, forced to run on hardware that's really only designed for linear visual fireworks. Finally they can take in a deep breath of fresh air and start to live.

I really can not wait to see where the next generation takes us!

This reminds me of L.A. Noire. The difference being that I think L.A. Noire only had around 25 unique people as pedestrians.

... And only 3-4 were seen along the streets at the same time.
The city really felt deserted. But not any more!
