This Week's Free DLC For The Witcher 3: Fresh Finishers

We're nearing the end of the free downloadable content for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

One of the last free weekly updates drops in a few days, and CD Projekt Red says we'll get new finishing animations for Geralt. So, you can dispatch hapless foes in even greater style now.

This fresh DLC will be available on all platforms. As for previously released content, we've already seen new Side Missions, Witcher Contracts, and Treasure Hunts, along with new armor sets and alternative costumes for Yennefer, Ciri and Triss. The recently released patch 1.07 features a bunch of additions, like personal stashes and an alternate control mode, but it has also caused frame rate problems.

For the record, there are two expansions scheduled; one for October and one for early 2016. These are premium expansions and you can grab both for $25.

I think they've done a fantastic job of balancing both issues. Personally, I've experienced almost none of the technical issues that others have, so I'm grateful for all the new content. But I understand it must be frustrating to those who are having such issues, and I am glad they are working to address these as well.

your definition of 'fantastic' isn't mine. The game too consistently performs below my standards. When patches release that "fix" problems but create performance issues other places, my confidence in them decreases. I wish I could sell my PS4 version but I'm stuck with a digital copy (with no psn option to trade).

Overall though I'm just bitter I didn't go with the PC version. It simply plays and performs a lot better, even on my 2 year old PC.

Oh well.
I think I've seen enough of the game anyhow.

I thought they did a good job until 1.07... game is almost unplayable in certain areas. And they raised the required level for armour for no obvious reason.

I was already having major sluggish problems in certain areas, reducing battles to a slideshow. This was before the 1.07 patch.
It just bugs me that this is the clunkiest most erratic performing game in my gaming library. Even sliding my cursor across the world map is a clunky chore.

The game was made by PC devs who are unaccustomed to console ui's.
Of course the game isn't bad, but I hate feeling like I'm playing something below the standards of any other normal game on a console worth playing when it comes to performance and interface. Some of the best patches for the game fix what should've been done from the start.

Edit: it's just a jarring feeling going from other high profile open world console games like Destiny and Batman to Witcher. Both of which performed like 5x better at launch than Witcher 3 has even with all its patches. And in its most recent 7GB patch, they managed to make the game perform worse. Wonderful. All of their future games are now PC exclusives in my book.

Ya if elite software is enjoyed by everyone and has bugs -- they still need to fix the bugs Godammit.
Before adding more for the millions to find.

What are you up to CDPR.

Taking a break for Game of Thrones, but all the extra stuff has been great.

Except for the reported frame rate loss. Usually I couldn't care less, but occasionally going down to the low 20's could actually be noticeable.
Nevertheless I still can't wait for the expansions.
