MGS5 Is A Smaller Install On PS4 Than MGS4 Was On PS3

Here's a little factoid that's causing a bit of snickering.

I think we all remember hearing about the required install for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on PlayStation 3. We were like, "26.6GB?! Are you sh****** me?"

Okay, well, according to the Japanese listing for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the new entry will only take up 25.1GB on PS4, which is less than MGS4 needed on PS3. C'mon, that's just amusing.

That's not even a lot by this generation's standards, as some launch titles like Killzone: Shadow Fall required close on to 50GB. Other notable titles are The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (50GB) and Batman: Arkham Knight (45GB), both of which are open-world games. MGSV sorta qualifies as an open-world adventure but it's not a sandbox, as Konami has made plain in the past.

By the way, The Phantom Pain only needs 11.7GB on PS3. Heh.

MGS4 had a good amount of high bit rate FMV, even some of it multi-channeled.
That stuff gobbles up tons of disc storage. It's likely Kojima didn't use much FMV in MGS5.

excellent point! Maybe they should start there own indi team and work there way up the ladder. Then they can make a game ten fold better than MGSV and not have any install time... Or maybe it's monumentally harder than they ever imagined. Maybe not complaining about S%&*T that doesn't matter would make a better use of there time.
