Need For Speed Gamescom Trailer: Racing Icons Beckon

If you didn't believe developer Ghost Games when they said they wanted to present us with a compelling narrative in the new Need for Speed, maybe you'll believe it now.

Of course, the Gamescom 2015 trailer for the upcoming reboot doesn't prove the story will be good, but it does prove that they're at least trying.

The game will boast various street racing icons like Magnus Walker and Kevin Block, along with the drift crew Risky Devil. Ghost Games executive producer said the inclusion of real-life racers has helped the team create a better overall narrative:

"We wanted to create a powerful story that's emotional but also pushes the boundaries of technology by adding real-time compositing to the power of Frostbite. This allows us, for the first time ever, to blend live-action film seamlessly with your in-game car and garage."

Admittedly, it does look pretty dang cool. Need for Speed is set to launch on November 3 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

I haven't liked a NFS game since they went to open world racing. I am partial to the old school NFS where you pick a car and a road, choose to have traffic or not and then drive or race. This trailer has my attention. The very first NFS on the 3DO used live action video and I loved that game for it. I might have to check this one out. Good move EA. Never thought I would be saying that last statement. LOL
