Keighley: PS4, Xbox One E3 Conferences "Strongest In Years"

Everyone is anxiously anticipating this year's E3, mostly because we'll learn a lot more about not one, but two brand new game consoles.

I honestly can't remember the last time two new systems debuted at the same E3 and as I said a few days ago, the clash is gonna be epic.

Now, GTTV host Geoff Keighley has added more fuel to the fire by tossing up the following Tweet:

"10 days until E3. Based on what I'm hearing both the Xbox and PS4 press confs will be the strongest in years. Lots of games and surprises."

We'll be happy with just games at this point. But who knows what Sony and Microsoft have yet to reveal? In our estimation, Microsoft has some catching up to do after an Xbox One unveiling that didn't go over too well. While at the same time, Sony really needs to come hard with their bread and butter; i.e, exclusive software. I still believe it's all going to come down to exclusive vs. exclusive at E3, despite any other hardware bells and whistles the two manufacturers might announce.

I've basically decided on the PS4 unless MS offers considerably more than it has for significantly less money. but then I just get both. I'm certain Sony will deliver us the same calibre of topnotch AAA exclusives.

This will be Sony's chance to really shine after that XBOne rollout debacle. All they have to do is bring the great games, and I think the PS4 has more going for it (especially with some surprises included) than Xbox with a couple real games, Call of Duty, and Kinect games. MS will probably try again to convince people that cable tv is cool and we will probably see the illumiroom gimmick.

I actually expect some good surprises from MS. They are taking the criticism way to well. Somethings up.

I should hope so, but they will probably center around exclusives that they will overpromise on.
For instance Ryse seems doomed to me, it's supposed to be a super hardcore big budget title that uses Kinect. That's a recipe for disaster.

Yea that will be their downfall. Making Kinect a focus for huge releases.

I think MS will show some great stuff. I honestly feel like they are holding something back. I mean for the most part they are not even defending themselves. That tells me they either truly dont care, or they are super confident that what they show at E3 will change peoples minds. Personally I expect nothing but surprises from them.

As for Sony, we all know they have the superior console, the developers love it, their unveiling was super strong. They just need to keep it rolling. Show some gameplay for the games they revealed at the PS4 unveiling, announce some exclusives, give us the launch title lineup and everything will be fine. Oh an announce Uncharted 4 please!

Personally I think they have been defending themselves. Denying that the xbone will not block used games (or is it? I'm lost on that one), explaining the kinda always on requirements, how THEY say your privacy will be protected despite theKinect requirement. I like to think that MS is scrambling just to cobble together a decent conference.

They are sort of defending themselves with a few cleverly worded statements but they lack the organization to have a single message, they end up on the defense because there's so much confusion over what horrible things the console may or may not do which aren't being denied outright. And they can't say yes or no exactly because they haven't decided yet.

What kind of CAPTAIN OBVIOUS comment is this?

Of course it'd be the most exciting - it's two freaking new console releases...jeese.

I know he has a shadier side, but I actually like him. He's a really good interviewer; he's done all my favourite interviews for The Last Of Us, and he seems genuinely into the game.

Another year of saying this but I hope to see The Last Guardian. I can't believe we went this entire gen without a Team Ico game.

I think we are going to see a lot more third party exclusivity than we believed. If these companies don't mind shouldering some of the development bill, I don't see a company saying no to exclusivity, especially, with how fickle gamers are about buying these days. I'm almost willing to guarantee that Square is going to develop exclusively for the PS4 and Vita this gen.

My pick for E3 winner: Nintendo. I think that acoustic conference is going to go over well. Plus, the games lineup is top notch across the board.

Microsoft really needs to come out and be clear on the always connected and blocking of used games issues. They also need to announce their exclusives and show some actual gameplay. It would help to have some developers come out and talk about how much the like the XBone like Sony did with the ps4.

With all that said, I don't think they will totally recover from the horrid reveal they had. I'm sure many of the exclusives will be casual and or Kinect games that the core gamers don't care about.

If Sony can just continue on with what they had started back in February by showing great looking games, developer support, actual gameplay, and a reasonable launch price they will do well. If Sony does have some pleasant surprises to announce it only helps them do better. No DRM, no always connected. They could win big.

Of course, this E3 is the prime event where they'll have to really compete to win over gamers to buy there console, so this will be a huge event. I'm tremendously excited to see what they'll have to offer gaming wise.

Mind you, Konami and Sqaure-Enix both have their exclusive shows, which really would be the two companies I initially look for for games. As well as a new Final Fantasy wouldn't it be exciting to see something new - much like how they explored the beat'em up genre with The Bouncer - I am all for a new genre... as long as it isn't a FPS.... With Konami it is all about Metal Gear Solid V and as that has been confirmed that is already a reason to be excited :D

I wouldnt rule the Wii-U out just yet, if they show more on this 2nd Xenoblade title ( the 1st being my favoruite this gen, despite the consoles capability.) - they could reel me in. With a new Mario, Zelda and Smash Bros game, they're certainly packing the punch this E3 - But it is primarily the PS4 I am interested in.

I very excited to see what each console has to reveal as well as the third party developers. It should be one hell of a show.

We know that Sony and Microsoft must have something hidden up their sleeves.

I love E3 time!

I wouldn't say that Microsoft is completely dead in the water just yet. Setting aside the whole DRM and online connection requirements, I expect Microsoft will use E3 to come out hitting, hard. I read that they have $1 billion dollars directed at exclusive software IP's. Now I don't know if that is just for one-year or five-years or what, but I just don't think MS will rollover an forgo their hardcore gaming audience so easily. We all know Sony's no slouch in the exclusives department, but I just wont underestimate Microsoft and their deep pockets.

They're not dead, not even close. They probably already know they don't need the gaming elites to succeed.

But I do suspect MS will attack e3 aggressively to improve their image with gamers like us.

If a company has $1 billion gazillion dollars planned for an investment, that means it has been planned for years and years and the stockholders are behind it, which means, it's a sceme to make cold hard cash, which means gamers get nickel & dimed.

Day 1 economics here.

With a CONSTANT (YES CONSTANT) internet connection required for XBOX One (Microsoft the IS its achilles heel sorry), PS4 gets my nod; my personal stance on it considered.

I really am hoping for a great E3 from both Sony and Microsoft. It's gonna be really interesting seeing them go head to head, though atm it does seem Sony has the edge, but I'll agree that Microsoft is definitely up to something.

I really do believe that the only thing Sony needs to do to bag E3 is just come on stage, say ''PS4 allows to play used games and does not require a constant internet connection'' and then just flood everybody with the games for the rest of the conference.

Win by default.
