Why Is Need For Speed Always Online? Ghost Games Explains
When Electronic Arts announced that the Need for Speed reboot would require an online connection, some gamers responded dubiously.
However, developer Ghost Games explained to Official Xbox Magazine (via GamesRadar) that in fact, there are good reasons behind the idea.
The always-online concept allows the team to deliver a bunch of "exciting and innovative features" and as Executive Producer Marcus Nilsson said:
"We've been pretty big with Autolog throughout the years and, as we know, it's a really powerful feature. This time around we're going to give it more of a human voice. It will treat your friend's play as if it is part of the narrative experience."
Nilsson added that the new snapshot system benefits from the always-connected format, as the entire community can be a part of all the snapped photos. They can "Like" their favorite shots and those Likes are actually "pushed back into the game as currency." Therefore, you can progress faster by utilizing the snapshot sharing feature.
Hey, most of us have an always-online system when we're playing anyway, right? Need for Speed is set to release on November 3 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The recent Gamescom trailer showed off the great blend of live-action narrative and intense gameplay.
