Deus Ex: The Fall To Be Revealed At E3?

Looks like another reason to be excited for E3 next week.

Eidos Montreal made everyone's Monday a little better today, as they posted up an encouraging Tweet, which apparently hints at the imminent unveiling of a new Deus Ex title:

"Are YOU ready for The Fall?"

Square Enix registered several domains earlier this year that indicated a game called "Deus Ex: The Fall," so this is a good sign. We know Eidos Montreal is currently working on the next-gen reboot of Thief (which remains one of our most anticipated future games), and to hear about another Deus Ex only increases our excitement. Deus Ex: Human Revolution was a great game and provided Eidos doesn't farm out the boss fights again, the new effort should be even better. Can't wait to see it revealed!

That makes two of us, but I've heard only good things about the game. I think it's a cheap buy but I have so many games to play and so little time with all the math formulas I have to learn for the GMAT >_>

Trust me, it's a worthwhile game. I haven't played the series until Human Revolution but it really doesn't matter since it's a prequel to the other ones.

What I wanna know is if The Fall is a prequel or a sequel to Human Revolution...

Human Revolution has been dirt cheap for long, we talk about the price of a couple of chocolate bars. Should definitely not be missed.

Whaaat??? You guys haven't played HR? Are you sure you're gamers?

j/k

Seriously though, the atmosphere in Human Revolution was the coolest and most memorable that I've experienced in a long time.

Buy it.

Coincidently Ben and I discussed this game over at the PSXE forums just here the other day, actually. And amongst all the things we don't agree on, we do agree that DE:Human Revolution struck a near perfect balance between storytelling and player freedom.

I take for granted that they did get the message regarding the completely misplaced boss battles in that game, so I expect something close to perfection this time around.

Easily one of my most anticipated games. Can we even dare hope for it to be a launch title with the PS4?

I'm one of the few that felt the boss battles were alright, they felt like Metal Gear-ish to me.

More excited for Thief, I think I'm just more at home in steampunk or retrofuture settings than sci-fi ones. But man we've been spoiled with good stuff like this.

This would be so nice! I loved DE:HR. What I want to know is if the new installment will be current or next gen?

Next gen. I'm willing to put money on it.

I will be surprised if the current gen is more than sporadically mentioned this E3 except for cross-gen titles.

so, thief 4 and a deus ex title, as launch titles for a new generation?
how can you say no!?
i hope this time though the games allot more consistent.
one thing thats hurting allot of stealth games these days is inconsistent level design.
one level you have 101 different ways to reach your objective, and other levels they put you in a corridor, fill it with 200 enemies, than say ok walk past them and your not allowed to be seen.
either have all of the levels flexible and open, or none of them.

o, and no more augmentation specific missions either.
another thing that really spoiled human revolution, the WHOLE point of the game is letting you choose how you want to play, how you want to augment yourself.
then they go and create missions which are nigh on impossible to complete without x augmentation.

another thing they need to work on is back story and character development.
one thing i HATE about so many games these days is they assume you know things.
you meet a character and the assumption is made that you already spent 20 years being best friends with them.
you never get to see the past of characters, and that really hurts the believability and interest of the story.
ME has never had the best story, nor the best writing.
but what made its story so amazing, so interesting, so engrossing, was the back story.
you get to learn about your team mates, you get to help jacob find his bastard father and decide his fate, you help tali get out of her snafu, or not.
you are a part of the world, you dont just know these characters because you happened to be in the same room at the same time.
you have past experiences with them, and you grow a relationship with them, and that adds SO much to the enjoyment of a story.

O, and of course the elephant in the room, consequences.
how many games have said the game will force you to make difficult decisions on the spot, then the game will change according to those decisions you made?
and how many of them actually did that?
exactly.
