July NPD: PS4 Wins Again, LEGO And Batman Go 1-2
PlayStation 4 continues its strong run this generation.
According to the NPD results for July, Sony's console was once again the best-selling piece of hardware in the U.S.
Sony also confirmed that the PS4 led in software sales for the month. Said the company in a statement:
"We are truly humbled by the success of the PS4 and we would like to thank gamers for making it the top selling console and #1 in software sales in the United States in July. The Batman: Arkham Knight PS4 bundle continues to be a top seller and we are looking forward to delighting fans next month with the launch of the Limited Edition Destiny: The Taken King PS4 bundle on September 15."
Speaking of Arkham Knight, the NPD notes that it would've been the #1 game for July if "sales were included from hardware bundles." Because they are not, the top spot went to the popular LEGO Jurassic World. It's also worth mentioning that Rory McIlroy PGA Tour outsold the last Tiger Woods entry by "close to 70 percent" in its first month.
Here's July's top 10, and remember that this only includes physical sales:
- LEGO: Jurassic World
- Batman: Arkham Knight
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Rory McIlroy PGA Tour
- The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited
- Mortal Kombat X
- FIFA 15
- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
