Star Wars: Battlefront Beta Coming Your Way In "Early October"
Want to play Star Wars: Battlefront a month early?
Then you need to dive into the upcoming beta, which, as Electronic Arts just confirmed, is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in "early October."
Testers will get to sample the huge 40-player Walker Assault Mode on the Hoth map, and special hero characters Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will be unlockable (check out the image here). The beta will also let you try a Survival Mission on Tatooine (you play as the Rebels and you must push back the advancing Imperial forces) along with a new mode called Drop Zone. EA says we'll learn more about the latter mode in the coming weeks.
The only bad news is that anything you do in the beta - your progress, achievements, character data, etc. - won't transfer over to the full game. But hey, you can still play early so you shouldn't complain too much, right? As for entry, it doesn't appear to have any requirements; they didn't say you had to pre-order the game to get in, so perhaps the beta is completely open.
Additionally, EA announced a "Companion" experience called Base Command, where you can earn credits that will unlock stuff like Star Cards, new weapons and other goodies. You can also track your in-game stats and progression, and customize your load-outs. This will be available for iOS and Android devices.
So, that enough news for now? Star Wars: Battlefront will launch on November 17.
