PS4's Huge "Kenshin" Update Focuses On Social Goodness

PlayStation 4 is in line for another big update and Sony has detailed the features it will bring to users.

Update 3.00, code-named "Kenshin," will increase the online storage capacity from 1GB to a whopping 10GB for PlayStation Plus members, introduce YouTube live-streaming functionality, and allow direct sharing of videos (up to 10 seconds long) via Twitter.

But that's just the beginning. The Kenshin update will also deliver a new events hub, which will give us an overview of activities taking place in games they play most. So, this feature might tell us about a double XP weekend or the launch of seasonal in-game events. Furthermore, the Friends app will be updated with a Favorite Groups feature, and we'll be able to send friends a "Request to Watch" message. If accepted, that either starts a live broadcast or kicks off a Share Play invitation.

Communities are coming as well, where users can create a Community that has access to a message board. You can join parties or games through a Community Now Playing area, too. If all of this interests you, don't forget that Sony is holding a beta test for this huge update. Testers will be able to access the update "very soon" so get ready!

Wow man. Everything's so corporate and focus grouped. Now they will have all this info on our habits and demographics to the point where it will become salable information.

I play for me.

The only thing I'm excited for is the 10GB of storage. Everything else is nice if posting and sharing your videos is your thing. I've done it a couple of times and it's nice and all but I can do without it.

I'd love to have more options to personalise my PS4 and simplify some of the menus, one example I can think of is getting to the power off controller takes too much navigating when you're in the middle of a game and need to switch out in a hurry.

Also I'd like for the store to not need me to log out and back in again because parts of it don't load. I have an excellent internet connection but it still takes logging off the PS4 and logging back in as it seems to lose the connection.

Another feature that would be nice would be the option to delete/download from the online storage in bulk instead of one at a time and getting booted back to the menu page between actions.

An option to turn on (or off if it's not for you) a notification when one of your friends comes online would also be appreciated. I know some people would prefer for others to not know when they first log in but we did have it on the PS3 and it was a nice option to have it if we wanted it.

At least they are listening to us cuz I know the 1gb was not gonna last long. 10gb is a nice bump, I'd prefer a whopping 1tb for being a plus member but I'll take what I can get.

SO... when can we expect a Bluetooth stack update? Tired of my audio devices not having a profile!

Just got in the beta day before yesterday. The new features are nice, and certain things are more streamlined, but the handiest feature - for me - is the new easy-to-access PSPlus option to the left of 'Notifications.' I imagine all of the social things will be a little more beneficial for people that play a lot of multiplayer though. Either way, it definitely has some good upsides.
