Konami Steps Up And Congratulates Kojima On MGSV

By now, most everyone is aware of the Konami vs. Kojima fiasco.

It's unfortunate because it marred the creation of what appears to be another masterpiece from Kojima Productions. It's especially disappointing because the split in question definitely didn't sound amicable.

However, after Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain launched and dragged in some unbelievably high review scores, Konami has done the mature thing and congratulated Kojima on another job well done:

The publisher isn't afraid to gush about the game, so the least they can do is offer their thanks to the man - and the team - that made all this possible. Of course, we should probably acknowledge everything a publisher does to bring these products to market and promote them as well. But the Konami/Kojima mess still leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

Oh well. Just forget it while you play one of the best games of the generation.

What happened between them exactly? I just knew it was a falling out of sorts that led to a split.

I saw the first TV commercial of the game, looks incredible.

I think Konami has lost interest in the console market and Kojima Productions uses a lot of resources and time to make his games. Konami sounds like they want to focus on crappy mobile games and their slot machine business. Which is why I say Sony needs to make them an offer for the Metal Gear IP and bank roll Kojima. :)

BTW, the game is amazing. It should be GOTY for sure.

Because Mgs5 is over budget, it cost 10 billion yen to make, that's why they released ground zero and make mgs5 cross gen to cover the cost. But can't blame Kojima tho because he always wanted to make bigger and better game...

Okay thanks that makes sense. In that case I hope Konami sells the Suikoden License to a competent JRPG maker.

Mobile and slot hell is where they belong.

Hey World, the CEO of Konami wants to reverse expand. He wants to shrink Konami as a business and focus on easier and cheaper things. Kojima being Kojima obviously disagreed and they had a falling out. Konami probably wouldn't be around right now if it wasn't for the continued success of Kojima's games. Look what they did to Silent Hill after they essentially murdered Team Silent? Were the recent Silent Hill games terrible? No but they really don't hold a torch to the love and admiration the first 4 had. MGS was safe from being treated that way because Kojima was still around, and now he's not.

Konami - 2020 = Slot machines, gambling and portable gaming.

Capcom - 2020 = several series's being released and each having a dedicated fanbase to support them.

Square Enix - 2020 = Who knows anymore.
