Naughty Dog: Left Behind Inspired The Uncharted 4 DLC
For the first time in franchise history, an Uncharted title will have a single-player expansion.
Developer Naughty Dog confirmed as much earlier this week and even though we have no details yet, the mere fact of this DLC's existence has elicited plenty of reactions.
So, why are they doing it? Studio boss Arne Meyer answered that question during this week's GameStop Expo, citing the Left Behind expansion for The Last Of Us as inspiration:
"It worked really well for us for The Last of Us. We thought we could put together a really great piece of content as well [for Uncharted 4]."
Meyer added that Naughty Dog actually wanted to deliver single-player DLC for past Uncharted entries, but they just couldn't figure out how to do it. However, he believes they "rose to the challenge for The Last Of Us" and they're using that success as a springboard.
The Uncharted 4 single-player expansion will release via the Uncharted Triple Pack, which also features two multiplayer packs. This info was announced alongside the release date (March 18, 2016) and special editions. That Left Behind DLC really was fantastic; if Naughty Dog can replicate that quality for the Uncharted 4 DLC, I'm all for it.
