The Witcher 3's First Expansion Receives Details, Launch Date
There have been 16 free pieces of downloadable content (the last of which gave us a New Game+) but now it's time to talk about the real expansions.
Developer CD Projekt Red has announced that the first premium expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Hearts of Stone, will launch on October 13. This will add about 10 hours of gameplay and has Geralt venturing into a placed called "No Man's Land."
In the teaser trailer below, it looks like Geralt is a prisoner of some not-so-nice people (one has a human head hanging from his belt), and a mysterious man offers to help. During this new story-based adventure, Geralt will also meet other new characters, powerful monsters, and he'll even experience a "unique romance." Here's part of the studio's description:
"The expansion lets you choose your own path through an experience that includes recruiting a crew of break-in artists, spending a night partying with a ghost, and outsmarting the most bizarre creatures Geralt has ever faced."
This add-on will also let players try a new "Runewords" system that somehow affects the gameplay. Each Runeword has an impact on various in-game mechanics, which lets players "experiment with various strategies and tactics." Sounds intriguing...
Lastly, this expansion will be available in limited edition box form; it will include a digital code for Hearts of Stone along with two physical Gwent decks and a manual for the popular card game. Just to clarify, the missions in Hearts of Stone are designed for level 30+ characters but anyone can tackle them. You up for it?
