We're Getting Destiny Sequels Every Other Year Through 2019?
Well, that was the original plan, at any rate.
Newly released court documents posted by GamesBeat reveal that Bungie and Activision had - and probably still have - big plans for future Destiny releases.
According to the papers, they intended to release a new disc-based installment every other year through 2019. This would have been followed by the game's "largest downloadable content product" in 2020. Thing is, the plan may have shifted as a big expansion called The Taken King arrives this month and we haven't heard of a true sequel just yet. It's also important to note that these papers were based on the game's original date of September 2013. Still, Activision has said from the start that Destiny has a "10-year lifespan."
If you recall, we just learned that the game was significantly delayed so the team could make "substantial revisions" to the story. A lot obviously changed so perhaps this plan of sequels every other year has changed as well.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.
