The Last Guardian Might Shine On Sony's TGS 2015 Stage

Sony wowed us all when they finally, at long last, brought The Last Guardian to E3 this year.

And now, despite the PlayStation 4 exclusive not being on Sony's list of confirmed titles for the Tokyo Game Show, it looks like we can expect something special from the developers.

Co-developer genDESIGN posted on Twitter that they're considering a "new and different" way of showing off the promising game.

To clarify, Trico is the name of that huge creature we've seen in trailers, and Makuhari refers to the venue where TGS 2015 will be held. This year's event runs from September 17-20 and Sony's press conference is set for September 15. Only a few days to wait!

I wasn't "wowed" at all. In fact it was quite underwhelming after such a long wait. Taking into account it's not a final product: The picture was grainy and muddled and it was simply a playable rehash of the trailer they showed years ago.

At this point nothing about it excites me because there's no definite release date.

However, I believe when the game releases it will be an incredible experience. But until then my excitement is reserved.

Yes I agree that the graphics look crappy compared to the real next/current gen games around.
It feels like a PS3 HD remaster and no more...
That being said, graphic wise, the art style has always been the selling point to me and I'm ok with the muddy textures and rough polygons.

Yeah I'm not a huge graphics buff. While I enjoy some great looking games, I can still enjoy them none the less.

But the fact that it's been in development for so long, I think it should have been far more progressed. That's all I meant by it.

It ever getting released at all would be an amazing experience, IMO.

I hope by "new and different" they mean show us a new and different trailer than the one they've shown twice in the past six years.

I have a feeling I'll be disappointed, though, when they show us the same exact trailer in a "new and different" way, like with it using the VR stuff or something else dumb.

I guess I'm in disagreement with most of the sentiment toward The Last Guardian. Waiting for it was more sweat off of Sony's back than mine. If it looks the same as it did the first time I decided I wanted to play it, then everything is still on track as far as I'm concerned.

I can see a difference between the PS3 and PS4 video. I think there has been an improvement and I'm still buying the game.

I don't care about graphics much if at all, I think they're one of the least important aspects of any game. What bothers me is that after six years it looks NO different, despite promises that it's being worked on. Other games that had super long turnaround times looked VERY different from beginning to end, because that's just a natural part of the development cycle, especially when you jump platforms.

It makes me think this game just stalled out because it was unworkable, then got hauled out of the closet because Sony realized they needed more exclusives, which has never really been a problem in the past for them.

It makes me think we're going to get 2009 gameplay, which is the bigger worry than 2009 graphics.

The differences are real subtle. The art style is the misleading part. The art hasn't changed one bit, but it has gotten a lot sharper and a little smoother. Trico's feathers look like they're more wind blown in the breeze than they ever did before.

I'm not defending the development time at all, but that was Sony's call, not Team Ico. The game was ready for a 2012 release on PS3.

Going by most of these comments and my feelings towards this game,i don't think Sony did wow us ALL in the slightest Ben,i guess some of us get more excited about it than others do. ;-)
Having said that i will admit i was looking forward to it a couple of years ago,but now it's more like, yeah what ever,i'll make my mind up when and if it comes out,the promise of this game coming out are a sore point with me these days.
