Ubisoft's The Crew Features A Realistic, "Persistent Online World"
Hope you love to drive.
Today during their E3 2013 press conference, Ubisoft announced The Crew, "a revolutionary action-driving game," in development at Ivory Tower and set for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It currently holds a tentative 2014 launch date.
The team of racing veterans at Ivory Tower are preparing to send you on quite the ride. This game will boast a "massive open-world version of the US, brimming with exciting challenges and diverse terrain." You'll go all over the country and find all sorts of great racing competitions! This will redefine how much freedom we often expect in a driving game, and we'll be racing on all sorts of surfaces. This is a persistent online world populated by real players, so any car you see could be a potential rival or ally.
They will also release a companion application that will be available on iOS and Android devices. This will "allow for peripheral, complementary experiences." Said Ubisoft creative director Julian Gerighty:
"We want to give players a driving experience that goes way beyond the classic circuit-based racing games and really captures the boundless sense of freedom of driving across the U.S. Our teams are harnessing the power of next-generation platforms to make The Crew a challenging, immersive and non-stop world that can be shared by millions of players. This is a brand new driving game experience unlike anything that’s come before it.”"
