Naughty Dog Reveals Uncharted 4 Story's Central Theme
In any linear adventure, the narrative always plays a critical role in the experience.
That's why we're expecting a great story in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and to get a little peek at the emotional conflicts within, check out what co-director Neil Druckmann said in a recent OPM interview (as cited by PSU).
Druckmann talked about the game's important literary themes; specifically, how protagonist Nathan Drake must choose between chasing his passion and spending time with the people that mean the most to him:
"With Uncharted 4, as we were building it we were realizing more and more what the theme is: it's that balance between pursuing your passions and being with the ones you love, and what happens when you have to choose between those two things.
Is there a way to reconcile that? That's the message of this game, and everything is constructed around that very simple concept."
We've seen Drake battle this conflict a few times in the past, as Elena, Sully and Chloe have all questioned the main man's occasionally reckless decision-making. "What are you trying to prove?" I remember Chloe asking Drake. It sounds like all this will finally come to a head in the last Drake adventure.
After a delay, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is scheduled to launch on March 18, 2016 exclusively for PlayStation 4. Want one of those special editions?
