Battleborn's Super Crazy Silly Big Numbers

If you like big numbers, you should probably check out the video below.

In it, developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K Games reveal some ridiculous statistics for the upcoming MOBA-like action game, Battleborn.

First, we have what appears to be a modest number: 25. That's the number of playable characters, which is actually a lot compared to most games, and more than all Borderlands installments combined (yes, DLC included). But then the stats get a little wacky, as there are over a thousand ways to play every character, as each hero has 10 levels and 2 skills per level.

The biggest number is 49,576,665,600. Yeah, close on to 50 billion. It's the total number of different hero and team configurations, which is 7,776 ways to play times 6,375,600 team combinations. You can also find a fun infographic if you click here.

Battleborn is slated to release on February 9 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, and an open beta is on the way. During E3, the team revealed that you can attempt the story mode solo, and the game also supports split-screen and online co-op.

I'm still curious what kind of game this is going to be.

It looked like a first person MOBA to me at first and now I don't know what to think because it says it has a co op story mode.

Unless that story mode is just on static maps, and they are all arena fights.

Still all that aside this does look pretty interesting in my opinion.

I find it interesting though that there is this massive influx of first person MOBA style games coming out recently. I wonder how they are going to do in the grand scheme of things.

2 of the most successful genres colliding might make for a huge shift in the gaming market space.

I'm curious as well. When it was first announced I thought it was going to be a story driven game. Then people started saying it was a MOBA (I got doscouraged). Now it's being described as a MOBA but it has story elements like you pointed out (my interest is back).

It's unfortunate because I'm not a fan of MOBA's, because I like being driven by story in some regard. That's why as good as evolve - for example - was, I'm well past over it.

I imagine the story portion of this game is how you explained it - static maps and arena fights where you progress through each stage having different things to accomplish. Think Mortal Kombats campaign mode, how you climb the ranks of each fighter or Unreal Tournament 3.

If that's the case I'm not interested. If however, there is a story mode progressing through a plot then I'd reconsider.
