I Want Darksiders III So Bad, It Hurts

I didn't really care much about the original Darksiders. It was okay; just not anything special.

But Darksiders II was an altogether different beast and I loved it. It really ticked me off when THQ went down the tubes because it meant this IP would have a new home, and there was no knowing what would happen to it.

I have no idea what new owner Nordic Games is going to do with it. I know we're getting the Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition at the end of October, which is nice, but we really need news of a true sequel. And it had better retain the action/RPG structure of the sequel and not revert back to the original. The sequel was just so much bigger and more ambitious in every possible way.

What other game out there gives you such a balanced blend of action, role-playing elements, puzzle-solving, platforming and a little exploration to boot? This meld of diverse mechanics came together beautifully in Darksiders II and man, was it fun. This is precisely the kind of game I can get behind, provided it's not too gigantic. I'd be plenty satisfied if Darksiders III was only about 20-25 percent bigger than its predecessor.

I'm not sure if there's much of an outcry for this project, though. I'd like to think there is but I don't exactly have my finger on the pulse of the gaming community anymore.

I thought the first game was a great start. I gave up on Darksiders 2. Didn't care much for it. I'll play Zelda on Wii U next year. Hopefully Nintendo doesn't ruin it's pacing with looting.

They are using that extra money to try to make Darksiders III the highest level quality they can but you will have to be okay with the series going from AAA to B quality at best. That's not a hit at Nordic, they have good talent but not the kind of money THQ once threw around.

I expect it to retain all elements but maybe streamlining them. Which would be fine for me because the game got a little big and long for my newly short attention span.

I actually liked Darksiders 1 more than DS2 but both were awesome games.

I loved that Darksiders 1 played like a Zelda game. DS2, didn't have enough puzzles for my liking, and the dungeons didn't feel as well thought out as the first one.

I liked getting an item in a dungeon then going back to a previous dungeon and using that item do get an item or heart piece. Also the bosses were better, and usually you needed to use the item you got in the dungeon to beat it.

All that being said I liked elements of DS2, I would love if they combined both of them, took the puzzles and the dungeon designs of DS1, and added more loot and open worldness like DS2.

I am with you though Ben I want more from this series. I really wanted to play the other horsemen, and have the story come to a nice conclusion.
