Goosebumps: The Game Will Give You A Chill Next Week

If you're of a certain age, you probably grew up reading the hugely popular "Goosebumps" books.

Now, they're coming to life in a movie starring Jack Black, and also as a new video game from developer WayForward. As revealed over at the The PlayStation Blog, Goosebumps: The Game will launch on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on October 13.

The developers describe the game as similar to the MacVenture classic Shadowgate, in that it adopts the traditional first-person point-and-click gameplay style. WayForward says we can expect around 60 different rooms, each of which will include one or more of the following: an "atmosphere component, a puzzle or two, clues for a different puzzle entirely, and some built-in storytelling elements." The modern difference is that this experience isn't completely linear, as it lets the player wander about. If you get stuck on one puzzle, move on and try another.

The team used hand-drawn artistry for the backgrounds and it definitely looks like a fitting homage to the series. To learn more, click through the link above, and here's the debut trailer:

I remember playing Shadowgate and I loved it. If this game is even half as enjoyable, it will be worth the cost. Talk about a throwback. I am psyched.

Horror games really are on the slide lately these days. The Freddy games, Outcast, SOMA (oh dear) and most of these FPS horror titles just don't have it like the old horror games of PS2 era do.

Please just bring P.T back, the one FPS horror game that actually did psychological horror right.
