PS4 User Interface Video Exudes Ease, Slickness, Style

The PlayStation 4 interface should be simple and streamlined, two words that appeal to most all gamers.

In this video that highlights several of the console's new features, we see that Sony has put a premium on bettering the overall sharing experience.

First, the dude in the trailer goes to play Knack and notices that one of his friends, Sarah, has earned the Platinum Trophy for the game. So when he reaches a difficult spot, he goes to watch Sarah's video that shows him the solution. Then a friend of his pops up in his ear, saying he needs help in Killzone: Shadow Fall. Well, he doesn't have the game, so he goes to get it, and he's allowed to download the multiplayer mode first. He can even return to playing Knack will it's downloading.

Then he and his buddy take a video of them playing Killzone, which Sarah sees and comments on. So what does she do? She goes and purchases Shadow Fall from the PlayStation Store, using just her smartphone. This is kind of a slick device, wouldn't you say?

A neat feature, can't see myself doing this though as I'm all single player type of player and hardly ever play on-line multiplayer.

This is the kind of thing you're supposed to put into the conference instead of talking about how you can watch old-ass movies.

Agreed, I still don't get all the crap filler they use. Videos like this explain so much without charts and poor English speaking suits.

It's sooo painful to use now, after the new update/look-and-feel. It's broken... please fix it!!!

Ever since the change, I dread Tuesdays, always asking, "How long will it take the store to let me start downloading something this week?"

If the performance is that unbearable for you, try to browse the Store using its web-based storefront instead. You can then allow it to tell you PS3 or your Vita to start downloading the game(s) you bought.

I don't know about "Ease, Slickness, Style", but to my eyes it did exude "Microsoft", just like the broken-ass new store interface.

I wonder how many minutes of the dude staring at a loading screen they had to cut from the video.

:P

@NiteKrawler,

Where have you been for the last four months???

This feature was confirmed in the videos they showed at the PS4 reveal in February.

Cross game video chats might even be possible with the PlayStation camera if the videos are to be believed.
