Battlefront vs. Black Ops III: Will It Be A Closer Sales War?
Yes, I know. Unless you're name is Grand Theft Auto, you have no hope of selling what a new Call of Duty can sell. Not even close.
But I'm not so sure that's the case with this year's holiday FPS battle. I mean, I'm sure Black Ops III will still outsell Star Wars: Battlefront by a pretty wide margin, but maybe that margin won't be classified as a "blowout."
Thing is, Battlefield was picking up steam, cutting into CoD's lead, in recent years. Call of Duty: Ghosts basically caused the franchise to bottom out (even though it sold more than any other title that holiday season) and while last year's Advanced Warfare was a return to quality - as far as many fans are concerned - one got the feeling that even CoD wasn't infallible.
On top of which, if there's one fan base that can rival Call of Duty it's the die-hard "Star Wars" fans. If you get enough of them clamoring for Battlefront, and DICE actually gives us a solid, reliable online experience, I'm thinking EA's FPS effort could contend well. I just wonder how close it can get to Black Ops III...
