The Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone: A Few Lingering Concerns
However, with the first expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt landing today, as excited as I am, I have a few lingering concerns.
First, given the instability of the game in question, I worry that Hearts of Stone will come with its own fresh set of glaring issues. I know CD Projekt Red has prepared a massive patch but it only reminds me just how many fixes this game has required since its May launch. I know the expansion isn't a full game but if it really is 10 hours, there will be plenty of opportunities to screw up.
Secondly, I wonder how much stronger I'll get. I finished the game at Lv. 37 and like many diligent players, I discovered that any quest that had a recommended level of 6 or more below my current level wouldn't give me any experience. Now, they say the missions in Hearts of Stone are designed for Lv. 30+ characters. Well, great, but I still won't get experience for a Lv. 30 or 31 mission because I'm Lv. 37. That's really gonna bug me.
Thirdly and lastly, I know I'm going to run into the conundrum of ditching my full set of Mastercrafted Wolven Armor. I'm almost guaranteed to find better weapons and equipment in this expansion, aren't I? But the bonuses given by a complete set of Mastercrafted armor and blades is awfully attractive, from both a functional and aesthetic viewpoint. It'll really tick me off if one particularly great item forces me to break that up. Perhaps we could have another set for higher-level players...?
