Black Ops III Realistic Mode: You Have One Point Of Life
You better be able to dodge bullets like Neo in "The Matrix."
Earlier this month, we learned about a mysterious new difficulty setting in the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops III.
At the time, we didn't have any details about this potentially uber-hardcore mode but now, thanks to Treyarch producer Jason Blundell, we know what the "Realistic" setting is all about.
Blundell tells XboxAchievements that "you have one point of life, so if you're shot once, you're dead." Unsurprisingly, he added that this "completely changes the way you play the game." So, in other words, with this mode enabled, you had best change any preconceived notions in your head; ala shooters and strategy. Run 'n gun won't work, obviously.
The four-player co-op campaign will require a "coordinated effort," and patience better be one of your virtues with "Realistic" enabled. Said Blundell:
"You all have to survive as a group. You end up respecting the level in a completely different way, and once gunfire opens up, everyone just drops to the ground, because if any one bullet hits you or a grenade goes off near you, you're dead."
This is a whole new world for CoD, as past entries have only sported normal difficulty modes like Recruit (Easy), Regular (Normal) and Veteran (Hard). The only good news is that if you're playing the game co-op with AI players, that AI has been completely rewritten to "make independent decisions." Yeah, well, it better work.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III launches on November 6 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
