Battlefront Doesn't Have Its Own In-Game Chat System

For some, it's only a minor detail. But it's still well worth mentioning.

Electronic Arts has confirmed that Star Wars: Battlefront will not have its own in-game chat system on consoles or PC.

According to this Tweet, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game will use each machine's "built-in party system for in-game chat." DICE suggests PC players "choose your favorite third-party software to communicate with friends." Of course, there are numerous VoIP options for those planning to play the hotly anticipated title on PC.

Console players might feel a little more left out in the cold, though. Star Wars: Battlefront lands on November 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC; just yesterday, the developers agreed that the Assault Walker mode in the beta was definitely unbalanced.

This isn't a problem at all. Every Playstation owner wanted cross game chat abilities and now with the PS4 we have that with its chat party features. Every Xbox owner used it as ammo against PS consoles for years. This is just the first developer using the machines features. It's one less thing they need to develop.

At what point would this be a problem when just a couple years ago everyone was asking for this preferred way of creating a chat party?

theyre just giving me more reasons not to buy the game. its like theyre trying to make it so friends cant play together or teams not play as a team. no server browser, will make it hard to play together along with their no team switching. party system doesnt work. party chat as a party is stupid because when i use chat with friends, we sometimes dont play the same game. thats the point of party chat. no in game chat basically just tells you to play solo instead of teamwork. theyre basically leaving out the things that should come standard with their games. the way i see it, theyre cutting corners on this game. this is just bs. i was so interested in playing a battlefield game with star wars setting because im a fan of both. what theyre giving me is a casual shooter with missing key features in an online game. no single player too.. i dont think ill get this game now. at best its a $20 purchase for me.. and thats if nothing else is out.

Argument about party chat is invalid.

Party chat is stupid because some friends don't play same game when you use it..? You can create a party named StarWars or w/e and invite your buddies to play together. Only difference is you won't get strangers shouting bs in your ears and if yo uwant too you can just invite them.

Also you are underestimating human beings. Just look at Splatoon on WiiU. People manage to work as a team with common goals but no chat. Now at least we get party chat and can organize with buddies. Don't see anything wrong in that. Having two chats might even be annoying. You party chat with people but got battle field chat in the way bleh
