Call Of Duty: Black Ops III On PS3/360 Only Manages 30fps
Hey, if you haven't upgraded to the new consoles yet, it's your loss.
We already know that Call of Duty: Black Ops III on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 won't have a campaign mode, which basically means you're only getting a multiplayer experience.
But now we learn that due to the older hardware in question, the developers can't target 60 frames per second, as Treyarch is doing with Black Ops III for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The last-gen versions, in development at Beenox and Mercenary Technology, is only going for 30fps, which may be disappointing to some. As creative director Thomas Wilson told Develop:
"I'd say that we tried to hit that target [60fps]. We're basically looking more at something like 30fps. "But still, the experience is very enjoyable, otherwise it's not Call of Duty."
Wilson added that the 60fps benchmark "becomes harder" to hit when development stretches across multiple generations. That's understandable but for FPS fanatics, they're probably going to need one of the new consoles or a gaming-quality PC, right?
Call of Duty: Black Ops III hits store shelves on November 6 for all previously mentioned platforms.
