Which Studio Would You Trust With The Uncharted Series?

Last week, Sony admitted it'd be "difficult" to consider another studio for the award-winning Uncharted franchise.

And while I'm pretty sure I would be leery about any new series entry that wasn't made by Naughty Dog, it got me thinking: Which studio might I trust with this IP?

I thought about Sucker Punch, the team responsible for one of my favorite PlayStation franchises (inFamous). But you know, I'm just not sure that's the right fit; there really is a world of difference between an open-world action game and a linear, narrative-driven action/adventure like Uncharted. Then I thought about Sony Santa Monica, the studio that delivered so many unbelievable God of War installments. That might not be a bad idea, actually. These guys are not only top-tier developers but I think they have the chops to retain a lot of what makes Uncharted so special.

My other choice might actually be Ready at Dawn, because The Order: 1886 is akin to the type of game they'd have to make for a new Uncharted quest. Of course, it probably wouldn't be farmed out to a third-party independent studio but if that was an option, who would you like to see working on Uncharted?

None. It'd lead to results similar to all the times people let someone besides James Cameron direct a Terminator movie.

Idk probably none. Can't a good series just end for good?

These days? No. Five years from now Uncharted 6 will be going up against Halo 8 and Assassin's Creed: We Ran Out of Subtitles in the big holiday sales battle.

I think the studio with Golden Abyss did a pretty good job. Uncharted is really more story driven with great acting. If the that studio has the budget to support it. I think they can at least retain 85% of the naughty dog uncharted quality. To push it above and beyond... probably not though. Only ND can do that.

None. It's not even fun to think about. It wouldn't be the same Uncharted in any other hands.

Wow, there is just way too much clingyness between this article and the last one. IT almost makes me want Sony to give the IP to Activision or EA or maybe even Ubisoft just to spite these guys. I get it, no one wants to see UC get handed off to another developer. But seeing this level of smugness towards the other 1st party devs, as if they weren't worthy, is just disgusting.

I don't think you understand the huge risk that would come with such a asinine idea. The reality of it is, regardless of how good Sonys first party developers are, they all create different types of games. They all tell stories in different ways. They all emphasize gameplay in different ways. What ND does is what makes Uncharted as good as it is. You give it to any other developer out there and it just wouldn't be familiar.

Apparently some people are willing to give that up though, for the sake of some stupid argument based on a question that should have never been brought up.

Does Golden Abyss not exist?

Golden Abyss was a great hand held title. It was not what one expects from an Uncharted game such as the numbered entries that ND produces.

But anyone who played it should be able to comprehend the differences. Hand held or not, it didn't have super tight controls, or the fantastic story telling narratives that ND has produced for the franchise. Which by the way is the series common praise. The gameplay was familiar such as the platforming, but the hand held input held it back. No offense but it was a hand held title and that was very evident.

So according to you, Bend could not possibly improve if they were to get the budget necessary for a full fledged console title? You just said it yourself it was great and it was also a handheld title. Where have you seen a handheld title get the same treatment as a console title? It IS possible for different studio to handle the IP so get over it.

If they wanted to make at least one more, Sony could bring together some of the top talent from several different studios. Sony Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog and Insomniac have helped each other in the past.

None. Let it end in a high note then to be run to the ground. Look at Crash Bandicoot, as soon as Naughty Dog left it it went to shit :/
Will people not learn from past mistakes!

I already sent Naughty Dog an email asking them to change the ending of the story to include an adventure to Mars because Nathan Drake is so good at hunting for treasure that Blackbeard's ghost had no choice but to hide the Titanic inside Olympus Mons, and then at the end when they find it the CGI monster from Mission to Mars comes out and eats Sulley and we learn that he is just a scouting party for the Covenant, at which point Drake joins the UNSC's Spartan program and, after years of training and lots of protein shakes, becomes Master Chief and saves all the Halo rings including the one where Mario and Sonic have been in cryostasis for centuries, and it turns out that Bowser and Gravemind are the same guy, so after Nathan and Mario and Luigi team up to beat Bowser Gravemind and save the universe they all have a huge party at Lara Croft's house and we find out that Lara is actually Drake's long lost sister which is why she is so good at hunting for treasure, too.

After TLOU, I'm convinced that Uncharted isn't good because it's Uncharted. It's good because it's Naughty Dog.

I say no one.
