UFC2 Unveiled: Enhanced Authenticity And Ronda Rousey

EA said the details were coming, and here they are.

Electronic Arts has officially announced UFC 2, which is scheduled to launch in spring 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Unsurprisingly, it will feature the biggest name in the sport right now: Ronda Rousey.

If you didn't know, Rousey likes her video games (you may have noticed that bizarre ad on ESPN where she dressed up as Pikachu in the workout room), and now she's on the cover of the new UFC game. As she said in a statement:

"As a gamer myself, it's pretty surreal to be on the cover of the game and to have a woman on the cover of a UFC game shows a lot of progress. I'm really happy to be involved with it."

From a gameplay perspective, EA Sports will add several new modes that weren't in last year's effort. There's KO Mode and Ultimate Team, along with a revamped Career Mode (which now lets you create female fighters). Plus, a fresh mechanic called Grapple Assist that will serve as a stepping-stone for all you newcomers. Oh, and they also want the game to look absolutely incredible as senior producer Brian Hayes told GameSpot:

"The game being really, really, really, ridiculously good-looking is important to us, and the team is always working to find ways to outdo themselves. That includes updates to the in-game lighting, the facial animation system and lots of new physics and rendering details. It all comes together in the in-fight replays, where you can really see the fighter flinch a moment before a huge strike lands, sending ripples across their face, and how their hair whips around with the force of the blow."

To add even more authenticity, they're tossing in a new knockout physics system that will result in more realistic animations. Lastly, this entry will boast the "biggest roster ever," so you'll probably see at least a few fighters you recognize. To learn more, check out the game's official website.

I didn't mind the previous one but the difficult grappling system made it hard to do anything else apart from punches and kicks
