DayZ May Find Its Way To PS4
I suppose we can always use more zombies.
Designer Dean Hall is considering a console iteration of his new PC game, DayZ. According to Eurogamer, he has spoken to both Sony and Microsoft about making that happen in the future.
However, while he "absolutely" likes Sony's approach to independent developers, he's a little leery about Microsoft's ban on self-publishing and the company's history of charging a ton of money for game updates. Said Hall:
"Sony lets you self-publish and they don't make you pay for updates. Microsoft requires you to have a publisher. They have no digital distribution strategy and they require you to pay $10,000, or whatever it is, for updates."
The PC version of the zombie action game DayZ is ready to go, and Sony is "obviously interested." Once the PC iteration is out the door and Hall has time to breathe, he will definitely consider bringing the game to Sony's new console. He hasn't dismissed the Xbox One, saying that he's "hopeful" that Microsoft "just forgot to talk about its indie support." Well, possibly. But I wouldn't hold your breath, Dean.
