Give Us A Censored DoAX3, I Just Wanna Play Volleyball
The controversy and hoopla continues, as gamers remain annoyed that Koei Tecmo won't release Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 in the U.S or Europe.
It's a thorny situation and one that nobody can possibly win, so I'm not taking sides.
Sexism in video games - and in general - has become such a massive issue that no company can ignore it, so I wouldn't blame the publisher in the slightest for not wanting to brave those waters in these corners of the world where supposedly, censorship is bad...but only if it's labeled "bad" by the group in charge. Ironic and hypocritical to the max but hey, that's the land we live in now. But I don't really care.
I just wanna play some volleyball.
I got the first DoAX on the original Xbox because it was a freakin' volleyball game. Yeah, that's right. I still remember the good ol' days of Super Spike Volleyball and Kings of the Beach and quite frankly, I miss volleyball games. We don't have any now, either. It wasn't a perfect mechanic in that first game (points could go on for eons, especially later in the two-week vacation that counted as a "campaign") but it was still fun. And that's all I want from a new DoAX.
So, put more clothes on the girls, add half-naked men sunning themselves by the pool, change camera angles; do whatever you need to do to make it acceptable by as many people as possible. Do whatever is necessary to avoid litigation and death threats because you exposed skin. Then, when it has successfully passed under the feminist microscope (good luck with that), bring it here. Please, I'd just like to play volleyball, if that's all right with everyone.
