Two Big December Updates For Driveclub, First Out Now

Over a year has passed since Evolution Studios released Driveclub exclusively for PlayStation 4.

And during that year, the developers have worked to increase the overall quality and value of the experience, to the point where it's no longer the same game we reviewed.

And Evolution is far from done: They've just launched a huge update for the month of December, and they've posted up the full details. They deliver new cars and a superbike (both of which are free), along with a new easy tour mode and more paint options. And that's not all, because they've got yet another update planned for December 15 that will add the awesome Mercedes AMG GT3 2016 and no fewer than three new Trophies and eleven new events!

That's the problem with frequently updated and supported games these days: The original review just doesn't do the product justice anymore and essentially becomes obsolete. Thoughts on how to combat that...?

Maybe an update & score change to the original review & then re-post the same article once again????

"Thoughts on how to combat that...?" 12 month review updates? Or maybe 6 would be better.

I'll have to hunt around & see if I can find this & on disc, but on the too since I just got a new Hori Racing Wheel, but no PS4 games to try it out yet.
But luckily, it also works on the too & I have plenty of racing games in that collection, so I'll be giving it a shot there for now.

It's worth it if you can sit through all the updates and your internet handles it. After you get through Ramen season though I think. I use a basic Thrustmaster.

I love Driveclub but I had to delete it for space and I don't have enough time to Race with all the people based games. Why won't Sony allow external hard drives that work on the fly?

Critics were so harsh on this game. Yea the mp was all f*cked on launch, but the core game had nice presentation and flair. The driving physics were weird at first, but now the heavy, understeer physics feel just right. And the ease of sliding into online races is definitely appreciated compared to NFS/The Crew's use of in world/lobby multiplayer set up.

The game should be re-reviewed by many sources because the basic bare bone, pick up with ease set up is very welcoming in today's age of complicated everything game related.

Its pretty difficult to be honest.....

I feel that if a game is deemed to be broken due to glitches, crashes, network issues then when a review at release is done, a note should be inserted stating that the review will be updated when points x/y/z have been rectified.

What is difficult though is to do a whole new review because when a game releases they may have no peers yet 6 months down the line if you decide to do a review it could even be marked lower if the new games have raised the bar.

What I want from a reviewer is a review of the current game state. Its impossible to review and update all games as they evolve but I feel some which are harshly dealt with because of technical issues deserve to be revisited. Other lone running games which evolve over time should be revised on a 1yr or 2yr basis (e.g. wow)
