Thief E3 Gameplay And Interviews: Give Us This Game ASAP

It's one of our absolute most anticipated next-gen games and that's because Thief is a revered, iconic stealth IP.

We've been not so patiently awaiting its return and in 2014, Garrett will finally once again stalk the streets. Robbing people blind is his specialty and catching him is a definite challenge for authorities.

We got a great look at some early gameplay, and there are also several key interviews and discussions from E3. The video below starts with that gameplay footage and shows Garrett sliding stealthily along dark, wonderfully detailed streets, carefully avoiding notice and snagging what he can. Of course, we imagine that when the game comes out, the mainstream press will denounce it for being a "burgling simulator," designed to turn every one of us into thieving bastards. Oh noes, the world will be overrun!

But we can ignore that annoying naivete because Thief will have returned, and stealth fans will be too happy to notice any such stupidity.

Thanks, Zak!

I hope that in the new generation we see a return to the stealth genre. I want a new Tenchu and I want them to use the power of these new consoles to have really cool AI, and awesome stealth mechanics. Its possible so get it done someone >.<

Oh right and Thief looks amazing :)

Looks like Assassins Creed to me but with bows and arrows and the usual gear. Mind you this franchise has been around a heck of a lot longer and out of the market for quite a while, allowing Ubisoft, with employees who undoubtedly played the original games, to come up with their spin on similar gameplay. It just may appeal to the Assassin Creed fans. It has similar gameplay and even looks like it has a similar Eagle visions component.

It should be good.

Keep Playing!

If we can get some realistic field of view mechanics for the enemy AI, that would be a huge bonus for stealth games.

SO many times I have tried to be 'realistic' in my approach to stealth titles, only to be detected/killed.

That's actually one of my most anticipated features of next-gen, the huge increases to the AI of NPC's.

one thing that really worries me is the way the missions are setup.
every mission starts with you breaking into a area, stealing whatever it is your suppose to steal, and escape.
so doesent revealing the whole aspects and mission structure of the game kinda spoil any surprises within, and also doesent it run the risk of the game getting really repetitive and boring?
what separates each mission from each other and stops them from being another been there done that bore fest?
just watching the E3 demo tool allot of confidence out of me, and suffice to say all the negative previews its been getting has hardly helped that.
