Acclaimed Gone Home Coming To PS4, Xbox One After All

It's one of the best-reviewed indie games of the past few years and it's finally coming to consoles.

Didn't look like it was going to, though. Gone Home was originally scheduled for consoles but the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions were canceled earlier this year.

Now, however, developer The Fullbright Company has announced that both versions will launch on January 12, 2016. Fullbright had been working with Majesco, which was suffering through some financial problems, so Fullbright decided to handle the port internally. This, combined with the help of indie game publisher Midnight City, means Gone Home is console-bound. The game has moved from the Unity 4 engine to Unity 5, so console owners should get the same experience as PC players.

We'll also get 90 minutes of behind-the-scenes developer commentary. Looks like a great little game to kick off the new year!

Looks like my kind of thing so long as it isn't just walking around slowly like Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.

It's walking around slowly like Rapture. But imo Gone Home is so much more rewarding.

Can I go a little faster? Can I read things and like listen to stuff? Is the unraveling story worthy of a novel? I keep getting burned on these indie games because I bought Outlast and loved it to death. Then nothing's been good since, even the ones that get 10s for some reason.

No you can't walk faster, the slow pacing works much better for this game because it's a smaller scale as it takes place in a house vs. a small town. Yes, it's all about the exploration how much or how little story you get is directly connected to how much you discover. Yes again, I believe I'd be just as invested in the characters if I were reading it as opposed to playing. Hear you on the indie games, lately most seem like reimagined arcade games. Even something like Axiom Verge which looks cool, but is in all honesty just Metroid.

Yeah that does sound like my kinda thing, sort of H.P. Lovecraft where a whole world of psychological terror exists in one house.

The indies I meant were like Daylight or Soma, which are kinda like meh not bad but I wan't my money back.
