Final Fantasy VII PC Port On PS4 Comes With Cheap Cheats

Final Fantasy VII was not a hard game.

In fact, there are many fans who complained of its relative ease when compared to previous installments in the series. But games have gotten easier and easier these days and maybe even FFVII is too much for the uninitiated.

That's why there are three cheats available in the Final Fantasy VII high-def PC port that is now available for PlayStation 4. As noted by IGN, these cheats will make the epic adventure that much easier:

Cheat 1: Simultaneously press L3 and R3, which will toggle random encounters on and off. Man, how many times did we wish we had this option in FF games?

Cheat 2: If you hold down the L3 stick, the game will move three times as fast. Completely unnecessary but then again, with attention spans being in the toilet and the modern age of gaming moving at the speed of light, it's an understandable addition for the twitchers.

Cheat 3: Pressing the R3 stick lets you refill all health and Limit Break meters. This is utterly ridiculous as it basically makes your team invincible but whatever.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake has been stealing all the headlines lately, what with the fresh trailer that debuted during the PlayStation Experience, and the news that it would be released in some sort of episodic format. But for those who simply want to play the game the way it was always meant to be played, grab that FFVII PC port on PS4.

Ironically, the PC version of this game sucked when it first arrived. I remember PlayStation fans laughing at it.

If it comes down to 5 bucks I will buy it and play it, just to beat those super bosses with cheat heals!

If you kids only knew how hard they were to beat back in the day ......

I beat them. Never did it without KotoR, though.

I decided to keep my sanity and leave the Underwater Weapon alone. Even with gameshark I couldn't beat him because with 9999 HP and 100% buffs on all characters and KOTR doesn't help when he can still kill everyone at once in one hit.

Okay, THAT I didn't do. I never used the Miming nonsense, which really did feel like cheating.

Eliminating random encounters makes perfect sense when walking around an area you're now super overpowered for.

Then again... there's also the encounter rate down materia you could master.....

Man. The original PC port of this game was terrible. I bought it. Heck. I even got all the way to the final battle on PSX and decided I'd save the ending and play it all the way through again on PC. Yea. Couldn't happen on my machine.

We talking the original Eidos port or the one that came out more recently?

More recently. There's also a mod that allows you to fake-mount the recent Steam release as if it were the Eidos version.

has square ever explained why they don't have high resolution source pics of the backgrounds in FFVII?
Because what they've been using is horribly low def by today's standards.

I mean really, someone should remodel and render every scene backdrop and mod those in.

The original PC port had game breaking bugs and looked like complete crap when played from a computer monitor. Back then tv's were much lower res compared to your standard computer monitor. So porting made-for-TV games to PC usually sucked, and FFVII was no exception.

Temjin, those mods exist, man. :D If I could upload a picture here, I'd show you a side by side of my PC version with and without mods. I'll see if I can find someone else's photo online somewhere.

I'm not having the best luck. Just this one that's super zoomed in. Here's a nice side by side, though. You can see the extra detail in the modded version of the background quite well. Just would be nicer to have seen the whole screen is all.

Here's one mod with character model mods. The background in this section is modded with the backdrop from Crisis Core.

Ok, in regards to the remake, what if it was just basically sectioned off like the original? It was on three discs. What if the stopping points were relatively the same? Would that not be as bad? I'm not making a defense of any sort, just wondering what other people would think about that.

Wouldn't help any. People still wanted to keep playing the game after the first disc, after the second, etc as opposed to waiting months or a year or more between discs.

I never got around to beating Ruby and Emerald weapons. I got as far as getting KotR, and that was it.

Honestly, I have a confession to make.

I don't remember ever actually beating the game.

I've played it countless times ever since it's release. For literally hundreds of hours, but I've never beaten Safer-Sephiroth......

I guess I just loved the game so much, that I never wanted to feel like it had ended. Which ended up being a good thing, because my completionist nature means I will always have a twinge in my brain reminding me that I need to go back and finish it. aha.

Another reason why I never beat it was because you needed to use two separate parties, but I had a habit of picking 3 members, and sticking with that party permanently unless I didn't have a choice. So I really only had 3 characters who were strong enough to beat Sephiroth.

I think now is the right time to go back and play it again, it's been a few years. Maybe this time I'll take the time to beat everything. I just have to get over Fallout 4 first, which probably won't happen any time soon.

I ran into that problem as well, because I do the same thing: Stick with 3 and power them up. However, if those three are super powerful and you've got KotoR, you should have no trouble with the final battle.

Btw, if you got KotoR, why didn't you beat the WEAPONs...? That's the only reason to even get that Summon. :)

Sephiroth is the weakest boss of all time so no worries there. You can beat him on a low level with HP boosting materia and some good summons.

- Oh man that separate party thing was worse in FFVIII, by the time I got to Ultimecia I had 3 characters that couldn't do anything.

I just kept resetting that Ultimecia battle until I was left with the 3 characters I always used. LOL Not dissimilar to what I had to do with Ruby Weapon...you can only equip one character with what you need to win and Ruby eliminates two of your three characters at the start of battle, so...

Ben a trick for the ruby weapon is to kill off those two characters in the fight, and you put a ribbon on one of your characters that you want to live. The fight becomes pretty easy.

Also Mime broke the game.

I didn't want the Ribbon on the one character that was left; I wanted another accessory but I forget why.

Not me! I loved using everyone in 7 and 8! (Minus Cait Sith. His limits suck.) In 8, I had a perfect party balance and each party member had their own GF. If a party member was lacking a stat I felt should be boosted, I used an amnesia item to forget a duplicated skill and taught them the new junction skill I wanted them to have.

Majority of the players who are gonna play this are probably the ones who played it before and want to just zoom through it again, thats why they just added the cheats so players have an option.

Anyway's every time I read an FF7 article from here it kinda feels like there's always a bit of negativity and sourness now. Maybe it's just me I dunno lol. But yeah, i called it years ago guys.

FF7 remake is coming. I knew it
