Naughty Dog: Sony Lets Us Make Any Game We Want To Make

Earlier this week, Naughty Dog lead game designer Robert Cogburn explained why the next Uncharted would be Nathan Drake's last adventure.

Now, we get some more input from co-director Neil Druckmann, who had some interesting things to say to Kinda Funny Games. He first jokes that it's a "horrible business decision" to end the series because each entry has been more successful than the last. However:

"What's awesome about Sony and how they treat us is they let us make whatever game we want to make. With Uncharted, these characters are real to us. When we're writing for them you can hear their voices in your head. It's actually quite easy to get in there. But it felt like it's time to wrap things up. Nathan Drake is letting us know- Tell the final story.' And we felt like we really came up with something that looks at the three previous games as the start of an arc and this is the finish."

Druckmann also addressed the inclusion of branching dialogue sequences, which we saw during a new trailer showed off at last weekend's PlayStation Experience. Druckmann said this would be an option in a "few spots," and are only included in places where the developer thought they needed to offer "something interesting." So no, it won't be like an open RPG, where your decisions determine the outcome of the characters or the game.

You can see that trailer here below. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is scheduled to launch on March 18, 2016 and if you're currently enjoying the multiplayer beta, you've got a shot at winning a free copy of the hotly anticipated PlayStation 4 exclusive.

That was obvious for Uncharted. The game went through many major overhauls before it turned into what it did. Turned out pretty good.

Great to hear, a company as good as naughty dog should never be held back and told what they have to make next.
