Final Fantasy XV Cross-Link System Is Refined And Improved
When Square Enix announced an updated playable demo for Final Fantasy XV, it was admittedly a little confusing. I mean, who ever heard of releasing an updated demo?
But Episode Duscae 2.0 helped the developers further fine-tune the combat thanks to more player feedback. And this apparently includes an improved Cross-Link system.
This enables Noctis to perform chain attacks when he teams up with allies. And now, according to RPG Fan citing Game Design Section Designer Ken'ichi Suda:
"The Cross-Link tempo has been improved from the demo, and execution is now more nimble. Ways of triggering the Cross-Link are different from the demo and have improved. The Cross-Link system was overhauled for the purposes of the finalized version's release."
Suda added that "Slash Link" coordination along with a previously "unannounced system" also exists, and these can be triggered under different conditions from Cross-Link. Suda calls these mechanics the "bread and butter" of the co-op party battles, so it's important to polish them up.
Final Fantasy XV doesn't have a launch date yet but Square Enix promises it will arrive some time next year, and they said we can expect the finalized release date in March.
