Black Ops 3 Microtransactions Revealed: Call Of Duty Points

Come on, you had to see this coming.

Not long after Activision added microtransactions to Destiny, another major title gets a similar treatment.

It's Call of Duty: Black Ops III and as the publisher announced in a new blog post, various items are now available to purchase with real cash. This includes weapons, outfits, taunts, camos and various cosmetic attachments, and you can find them in the Black Market in-game store. Here's what's available:

Multiplayer

  • Butterfly Knife
  • Brass Knuckles
  • New taunts
  • New body and head variants for each Specialist
  • Epic rarity camo
  • A "wealth" of new Calling Cards
  • Extra Slot Packs

Zombies

  • Vials of Liquid Divinium
  • Extra Slot Packs

These items are only available in the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions, so those playing on PS3 or Xbox 360 are out of luck. Activision did make it plain that all these items can be obtained through standard gameplay but if you want 'em earlier, you can obtain them via "Call of Duty Points." They're giving you a one-time gift of 200 CoD Points and then after that, you need to pony up:

  • 200 Call of Duty points -- $2
  • 1,100 Call of Duty points -- $10
  • 2,400 Call of Duty points -- $20
  • 4,100 Call of Duty points -- $40

They're not essential but the fans are probably going to want some goodies, right?
