Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag A Launch Title For PS4, Xbox One

Well, we figured as much.

We knew Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was slated for October 29 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and we also knew it'd be coming to the next-gen consoles this year.

Neither of those consoles are expected to be out before November, so it would make sense that the PS4/Xbox One iterations of Black Flag would be launch titles. Ah, but one always needs the official confirmation, right? Ubisoft game director Ashraf Ismail told ElderGeek that in fact, "we are launch titles for those platforms." As for the PC version, Ismail says they're "working hard" on it and that PC fans shouldn't worry. "The game on PC looks phenomenal," he said.

There will be quite a few games available at launch for the PS4 and Xbox One. Which ones are atop your priority list?

I dont know if Its a priority now. Before the PS4 it certainly was going to be. But now, I'll be purchasing the PS4, PSplus, KZ: Shadowfall, and the other 2 big shooters in CoD and BF4, so... thats a lot up front unfortunately for me. Itll have to wait probably. But I haven't finished AC3 anyways. Typically I start these games only to finish them weeks before the next releases.

Right now, it's looking like BF4 and Killzone for me.

I've never played a game from this franchise, but I'll think this will be the first one and it's because of where the game will take place. I'm not particularly interested in the battles at Sea but fighting and sneaking in the forests is always fun (MGS3, MGS 4, Far Cry etc.).

I'm pretty sure I'm not getting a PS4 at launch, but if I change my mind this would probably be the title.

you might as well start with AC3 then. It has some nice wild life and tree climbing. Plus you can find it real cheap these days on deals. I got mine for $14.

Cool about the PC version. I was thinking PC gamers would get the shaft, per the usual. When it comes to optimizing early trans-generational games PC versions in the past have just stuck with a higher res port of the current gen game.

I have to say, I do have it easier than most console gamers with holding off on the next-gen. That is I've been playing most multiplats at higher details, at 1080p and 60fps for a year now. It's real nice and makes the PS4 wait much easier. This has a lot to do with needing powerful hardware for what I'm working to become an expert in. So having the option to often game at higher settings on PC rather than on a console is a no brainer.
But really, my time for gaming is much less these days anyway. I think Darksiders II and AC3, DOA5, and Xenogears has me taken care of until the year's end.

Not unless you are a Sony Loyalist and love building your PSN level. :)

@Temjin001,

Not that you were asking me in particular, but I am 71% through level 22.

I have 46 Platinums to go along with that tally.

More interested in Watch Dogs than Annual Creed IV. Hopefully that's available at launch.

I think it would have payed off in the long run to make a bold move, take 1 year off the release schedule and just made this a next gen version.

Why disregard an already huge install base? Because the franchise needs time for hype to rebuild and there are zero gamers that are fans of the AC series who don't plan to get a next gen console within a year of launch.

I got the Platinum for ACIIIL but haven't started ACIII yet. I will see how things go. I plan on playing Dishonored, ACIII or finishing up Far Cry 3 after The Last of Us. If I finish ACIII and have enough time to miss the AC Universe I will get Black Flag at launch. However money could be an issue since I am getting the PS4, Extra Controller, Knack and Killzone Shadow Fall at launch.

Battlefield4, Killzone, Assassins Creed, Watch Dogs.

Going to be the best launch ever. better than the PS3 launch. I only had Need for Speed and Resistance for about 9 months straight......

another one to put in the no sh*t sherlock cabinet.
interested to see how the next gen versions will look because the footage showed so far looks almost identical to AC3!
one of those games that really does not look like a next gen game.
certainly not when you put it up against the amazing watch dogs and the division!
eh, not that it matters though AC3 was the biggest disappointment since GTAIV!
so suffice to say my expectations for this, both technically, and gameplay and story wise, are at record lows.
:(
sad considering this was once my favorite new IP of the generation, and one of the best franchises ever made!
oh how quickly and dramatically things can sink!

I currently have AC IV pre-ordered, but if I don't like how the gameplay looks at Gamescom, or TGS, then I will switch that pre-order to something else.
