DICE Confident That Battlefield 4 Will Outclass Other Shooters
If you hadn't noticed, there are a lot of shooters on the horizon.
But developer DICE believes their new effort, Battlefield 4, will stand apart. Producer Patrick Bach told GameSpot that despite the stiff competition, BF4 will prove itself as the "best game."
He also said that all this inter-genre competition is good for everyone involved:
"I think [competition is] beneficial for everyone. Consumers, first, of course, they get more choice. For us, we need to think about what is Battlefield really about so we don't dilute the franchise in any way. We need to focus down on what makes Battlefield awesome, and make it even more awesome.
And I think Battlefield 4 hopefully is a good testament that we're doing that. I can't really see any downside to having multiple games being great. I'm happy for the consumer, first, and I think we will step up our game to fight the competition even harder. We think we have the best game; we need to prove it."
Battlefield 4 will have to go toe-to-toe with Activision's Call of Duty: Ghosts, and 2014 will see the arrival of heavy hitters like Respawn's Titanfall and Bungie's Destiny. Battlefield has always managed to impress critics and gamers alike, though, arguably more so than CoD. It wouldn't be too surprising if BF4 pulled down some very high review scores when it launches later this year...
