Uncharted 4 Delayed Again, But Only For About 5 Weeks

When they announced the first delay, it was very disappointing, and it didn't help that it left PlayStation 4 with zero high-profile holiday exclusives.

Now, unfortunately, developer Naughty Dog has announced a second delay for the anticipated title. This one is nowhere near as significant, though:

The previous date was March 18, 2016 and the new date, as confirmed over at the PlayStation Blog, is April 26, 2016. Also note that the March 18 date was supposed to be a worldwide launch, while the April 26 date is only for North America. It'll release a day later on April 27 in the UK and Europe.

Directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley explained the need for this extra five weeks:

"This is our largest Uncharted, and the team has been working incredibly hard to meet the challenge of closing out the game’s development in a timely manner. However, as we started to approach our final deadlines and started wrapping up the game’s levels, we realised that several key sequences needed extra resources to bring them to the finish line.

After carefully considering all of our options, we decided to extend our schedule, making sure that we get a few more polish passes before submitting our gold master (the final disc for manufacturing)."

They admitted this decision wasn't exactly easy and they've apologized, but perhaps it's for the best. Uncharted is one of the greatest franchises of all time and to have the final Nathan Drake adventure fall shy of the lofty expectations would be a real bummer. These games are always so technically superior in terms of stability and visual achievement, so yeah, the first Uncharted on PS4 should be amazing. No slip-ups, please.

We can wait another month, right?

They say it's to polish the game, really it's so it will release a day before my birthday :)

Fine by me! As long as it's actually polished though.

I remember CDProjekt delaying their game for 2 months to iron out the bugs but it ended up arriving chauk full of bugs anyway (including also tiny hard to see text)

OMG the text is tragically small. No game gets this wrong, but sucks to be the first lol

This is actually great for me. I was originally worried about 'Firewatch', 'Mankind Divided', 'Hitman' and 'A Thief's End' releasing all around the same time. But now:
'Firewatch' in February
'Hitman' in March
'A Thief's End' in April
'Mankind Divided' in August.
This makes it much easier for me to buy all of them day one.

This is definitely a game that I'll be getting day one. Disappointing to hear about another delay, but this IS Naughty Dog we're talking about- whatever delays may happen, the final product is guaranteed to be near flawless. They can take their time, this game is going to be great when it finally releases.

Should've cut the multiplayer out for another month instead.

I'm cool with that. Naughty Dog is the only developer right now that I have no worries about, and I won't have concerns until they prove otherwise.

OT for a sec....

David Jaffee's new game "Drawn to Death" is free as a D/L on the PSN store, using the code below.

This same code is good for 1000 PSN claims, but you better act fast if you want to try it out because he already posted it on Twitter over an hour ago(mine's downloading now).

Here's the free game code....

Enjoy!

FYI, I misunderstood, it's not Jaffee's completed game, but what he likes to call a "Private Access Period".

I'm guessing this is some sort of beta or something then?????

They can delay the game by 15 weeks. I'll be too busy playing Dark Souls 3 most of the year anyway.

Very dissapointed. I would have so much time in March to play. In April/May will have MUCH less.

At this point my hype has died down for the game. I'll be there to pick it up day one, but delays never to get anything to get me more excited. Just means more freaking waiting.
