Uncharted 4 Delayed Again, But Only For About 5 Weeks
When they announced the first delay, it was very disappointing, and it didn't help that it left PlayStation 4 with zero high-profile holiday exclusives.
Now, unfortunately, developer Naughty Dog has announced a second delay for the anticipated title. This one is nowhere near as significant, though:
The previous date was March 18, 2016 and the new date, as confirmed over at the PlayStation Blog, is April 26, 2016. Also note that the March 18 date was supposed to be a worldwide launch, while the April 26 date is only for North America. It'll release a day later on April 27 in the UK and Europe.
Directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley explained the need for this extra five weeks:
"This is our largest Uncharted, and the team has been working incredibly hard to meet the challenge of closing out the game’s development in a timely manner. However, as we started to approach our final deadlines and started wrapping up the game’s levels, we realised that several key sequences needed extra resources to bring them to the finish line.
After carefully considering all of our options, we decided to extend our schedule, making sure that we get a few more polish passes before submitting our gold master (the final disc for manufacturing)."
They admitted this decision wasn't exactly easy and they've apologized, but perhaps it's for the best. Uncharted is one of the greatest franchises of all time and to have the final Nathan Drake adventure fall shy of the lofty expectations would be a real bummer. These games are always so technically superior in terms of stability and visual achievement, so yeah, the first Uncharted on PS4 should be amazing. No slip-ups, please.
We can wait another month, right?
