Psychonauts 2 Hits Crowdfunding Goal With 5 Days To Spare
It was the largest crowdfunding goal for a video game ever, but Double Fine hit it.
The Tim Schafer-led team has managed to fully fund the highly anticipated sequel, Psychonauts 2, with only five days left in the campaign.
The project has now earned $3,338,985, which tops the $3.3 million mark and makes this one of the top 10 most successful crowdfunded games of all time. It's also important to note that a fair percentage of the money raised is actually a result of investors; it's not all donations. This means those who have invested will actually own a small piece of the project and as Fig CEO Justin Bailey said, it makes this a "true community experience."
I so can't wait for this one. Psychonauts remains one of my favorite games of all time and I'm expecting nothing less than brilliance from Schafer and Co. But I and everyone else will have to be patient; it won't be done until 2018.
