Star Ocean 5 Character Trailers Gives Us A Gameplay Glimpse

JRPG fans are anxiously anticipating this game, and crossing their fingers that it will be something special.

And while the recently released trailer is in Japanese, we also get a great look at some background and gameplay for the upcoming Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness.

Also known as Star Ocean 5, this new entry from tri-Ace and Square Enix will center on protagonist Fidel Camuze, a 23-year-old fencer who comes from the kingdom of Resulia. Fidel swears to protect the public order of Sthal during the period known as "The Dark Seven Years" and as you can see, his skill with a blade is significant. But don't forget that this franchise often boasts lots of playable characters, so you'll be able to experiment with numerous other party members.

The new Star Ocean is slated to launch on March 31 in Japan on PS3 and PS4, and will come to North American PS4s only later this year. For more screens and details, click here.

The gameplay looks great. I loved Last Hope. I'll take inferior graphics with great gameplay over high production value, inferior gameplay (I wonder what franchise I'm talking about).

It doesn't look as "pretty" as XV yet it looks miles ahead in everything else. Also aren't you're playing Xenoblade X? so your eyes should be use to looking at terrible graphics.

Based on this video alone, how does this look miles ahead of FFXV? Because it looks slower and closer to turn based? I see like two heavy slashes and one special that looks weak compared to the summon in FFXV, just to show the scale of what could be done in the game. We haven't even seen the full reveal of FFXV's physical combat, let alone the magic system.

That said, having 7 party members at once is pretty sick.

Maybe saying miles ahead is too much,we will see how they stack up later in the year. However Im positive Star Ocean will be one of the top jrpgs of the year just as XV will probably be one of the top action games.

yay! These are always a ton of fun without having to worry about the action battle system becoming a massacred version of western styles.

This game frightens me solely because I am a completest. I'm literally playing Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope as I'm typing this and actually have 1 last battle trophy to obtain before the Ultimate Battler Trophy pops. (I have to defeated about 3000 more enemies with Edge for the 30,000).

After that gotta defeat the Ethereal Queen 3 more times for her feather so that I can make the last 3 weapons for the Welch's biggest fan trophy to pop.

Then FINALLY, I just need to beat the game on Universe difficulty AND Chaos difficulty and the BAM! Platinum! Across 4 different saves I have literally spent well over 2000 hours on this damn game. I'm begging Tri-Ace not to gives excruciating battle related task this time around or I'm simply not going to be playing any other game for the rest of this gaming generation.

Ha,
If they do the same this time around & you try to complete this one too, we'll have to rename you.....Old Man Rip Van Winkle Jr.

Yeah. I fairly certain that people who have actually obtained this platinum will easily agree that it is at least one of the top 3 time consuming platinums of all time if not the number one.
