Admit Your Sequel Cravings: The Witcher 4 Or Fallout 5?

News Images - 05060

To many, the battle for role-playing game of 2015 featured the same two games as the ultimate battle for overall Game of the Year: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Fallout 4.

One could argue that CD Projekt Red's epic offering came out on top, leading the way in nominations for both the DICE awards and the GDC awards. And of course, it won our illustrious Game of the Year Award as well.

But the fiercely loyal fanbase for Fallout 4 shouldn't underestimated, so I'm just wondering: What do people want more? Another Witcher or Fallout adventure? Obviously, we'll have to wait a good long time for both, but it's fun to consider the future. CD Projekt Red is currently toiling away on Cyberpunk 2077 and Bethesda will deliver Dishonored 2 later this year (and yes, I know it's being developed by Arkane Studios). The point is, we'll have plenty of other great titles to play in the meantime but after playing last year's awesome RPG adventures, which sequel would you want more right now?

I've never liked Fallout so my answer is obvious. But I'll be plenty happy with the next expansion for The Witcher 3; Blood and Wine should be absolutely magnificent, and Hearts of Stone was awesome. But those Fallout 4 fanatics are pretty darn serious...

I have zero interest in Fallout and I would bet money that Witcher 4 will release before Fallout 5 considering the gaps between sequels.

Fallout is a great series but there's something just mesmerizing about The Witcher 3 that I just loved. I mean I can name those things, but I'm sure you all know them.

Fallout is brilliant. It's such an improvement over Fallout 3 and obviously New Vegas without removing elements that would otherwise make it feel less like Fallout.

I'm not asking for another Fallout anytime soon but I certainly don't want my adventure to end anytime soon either.

With that said my choice would be for Fallout 5.

Word. I'd like it in 5 years this time. Meanwhile I'm good and it really puts into perspective how much of a waste of space New Vegas was, "Old World Blues" aside.

The Witcher 4, however I have only played snippets of Fallout 4. I dunno, I played for 2 hours and wasn't hooked like I was in the Witcher.

Ill take a Bloodborne sequel over both of them though >:)

Yeah Fallout 4 is a little overwhelming at first. I was just telling worldendswithme that I'm level 22 and it's just now opening up. It wasn't until 15 that I started getting good enough armor and weaponry to venture farther into undiscovered territory without the game taking me there.

With that said, keep at it because once you get past that point you are at, it's pretty satisfying.

You have to play 10 hours of Fallout to be lost in it for life. 2 is just like eh.

I imagine I will. I just have very little time right now. Competition season is here for gymnastics and I have very little time to game except in the late evenings and then I usually opt for a round of Dota 2 or Rocket league with some friends.

Summer time I will have to get at it!

"Fiercely loyal"...."Fanatics". Wow!!! Why do you have to describe the fanbase in that fashion. You won't like Cyberpunk because it's scifi and I know how you feel about scifi. If the writing is as tight as W3, I will instantly fall in love.

If I had to choose, I'd rather have Fallout 5 with improved writing/dialogue and animations over Witcher 4 with improved gameplay/mechanics. But I'd take both in a heart beat, but I like Fallouts atmosphere more.

The one thing about Fallout 4 that makes me wish it did a better job of is the music. It's off que and doesn't add much suspense or anything in that regard. But it serves a purpose anyways.

At least Ben gave Mass Effect the old college try, maybe this new Cyberpunk will have better sci fi. Especially if it's anything like the 80's game the name suggests.

@Bigrailer: Which music are you talking about? I prefer the old timey songs and I'm only upset there aren't 100 more. But I've heard a few PSXE members rave about the original score pumping and receding with good beats with the radio off.

I probably should clarify. I love the old time music and yes wish there was more. In fact I was doing the mission "The Dig" last night and the robot that assists constantly played that music which made me stick closer to it. It's great.

I'm more talking about the sounds that appear when larger battles take place, or the lack of suspenseful sounds when you are alone deeper in subways, etc... it's just missing something, while still being great. I don't know how to make sense of it. Sorry.

No problem. I liked the Dig, but it was HARD I should have worn my Storm Trooper suit. I play Diamond City Radio on my Pip Boy almost all the time except when I know there's to be lots of dialogue. So I don't cares aboot the background music atall.

Part of the charm with Fallout is the wait, and the huge event when it finally arrives.

So I do *not* want another Fallout until a few years have passed.

I would assume that something similar to New Vegas - a new adventure on the same engine - would arrive sometime in the middle of now and Fallout 5, and if so then seven years for fallout 5 is... Kinda ok. In a very sadistic way. :)

I hope of nothing in between. While the formula was good, because of Fallout 3, I didn't even play more than 8-10 hours of New Vegas.

I will say this though, that could change when I finish Fallout 4. At this point it's all I want to play and when it ends, I don't think we will be hearing about Fallout 5.

I could play Fallout until the end of time. Jettisoned generic Witcher from my collection. I hope a patch or DLC brings PSVR support to Fallout 4.

But I really do think it's time for the new try at Bioshock.

The Witcher 4 easy. Prior to part 3 many had not even played a witcher game whilst fallout has dominated the spotlight throughout its development cycles. Fallout 4 had al;l the pressure put upon it and failed to meet expectations despite being awesome. The witcher had no pressure and created an amazing game with unique elements that fallout cannot mimic. Fallout is really just bullet-wasteland skyrim while i cannot compare the witcher to anything else.
Witcher contracts over fallout story

As awesome as FO4 was, it was always gonna disappoint in some fashion like any hyped game, but it delivered. The W3 was great brought its really brought down with the forgettable gameplay.

I personally enjoyed Dragon Age Inquisition button mashing spam work more than W3's gameplay. I also didn't care for the overly complicated crafting in W3. Crafting materials to build rare materials to craft rare items was quite the daunting task in W3. I liked how you could add skills to "selected" armor in both Fallout 4 and DAI. One thing is forsure, DAI isnt better than any of these 2 games!!! Lol
