Will We See A MGS Remake Powered By The Fox Engine?

The hardcore fans just started salivating at the idea.

According to what Hideo Kojima said during a recent roundtable interview at E3 (as attended by GameReactor), a true remake of the original Metal Gear Solid could be on the way.

Kojima said he wants to use his studio's next-generation Fox Engine for the project, but he's currently looking for an external studio to handle the adaptation. Metal Gear Solid launched in 1998 for the PlayStation and was a bona fide instant classic. To this day, it's widely regarded as one of the best video games ever made. It received a remake in 2004 when Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes released on the GameCube, but wouldn't a fresh remake with the Fox Engine be cool? Who wouldn't want that?

I'd still rather have a FFVII remake but as that's not possible anymore, we can pin our hopes to Kojima and Co.

I'd rather have this remade than MGS. Kojima can turn a turd into pure gold. Square does the same but in reverse. =P

Doh! I was on the phone with Comcast and trying to type this at the same time! I meant to say I'd rather have this remade than FFVII.

World, I use an AirPort Extreme and it's been one of the best decisions I've made. All the issues I've had with other routers disappeared, I've never had an issue in 2+ years.

The AirPort Extreme is a great router. Very easy to set up and manage, and form your smart phone too!. My issue isn't with my Apple router. It's with the modem/router comcast gave me. I still have the same issues with connecting and ip fragments when I plug directly into the comcast hardware.

Try resetting the router back to its factory settings and do the setup all over again. Once you can connect with your pc, then try connecting with your ps3.

Comcast came out again and replaced my router with yet another one. Seems to have fixed the problem for the time being. No more ip fragment errors and I'm now able to set up my Apple router in bridge mode to supply my house with two wifi connections.

I'd rather have Metal GEAR 1 and 2 remade. (Before Solid-names) The amount of people who've NEVER played the MG1/MG2 on the MSX except those who're capable in getting an emulator and rom would be minimal. The plot in MG1/2 will likely be right after MGS5 so it'd be a great prequel and sequel to revitalize the Rise and beginnings of Solid Snake before his MORE popular debut in MGS1 of Shadow Moses, because before Shadow Moses? We had the infiltration of Outer Heaven and Zanzibar Land - fighting with Grey Fox IN AN EPIC BATTLE..... Cmon, this way, we see more Grey Fox too before he dies in MGS1.

The story and voice acting in the PS1 version of MGS still rivals the newer games today. It would be great remade again, given how inaccessable a port of Twin Snakes already is with the Nintendo copyrighted cameos in there.

If this goes through, I'm hoping that it also means a potential remake for the original MG1 & 2.

Salivating is an understatement! This would be the best example for a game from 2, or should I say 3 generations ago to become a best seller all over again.

Nah, then it would be exclusive. KojiPro have clearly stated there will be no more platform exclusiveness from them.

Oh please for the love of God make this happen! I didn't see the Shadow Moses chapter of MGS4 coming when I played through for the first time. I almost shed a tear when the MGS1 theme started playing at the helipad. What a glorious day it would be when we all get to play a remake of what is indeed one the best games ever made.

Ooohhhh I know right. That was the best part of MGS4, apart from the final fight.

Piloting Metal Gear REX was like a dream come true.

Yessssssssssssssssss. This is awesome!

HOWEVER!!!!

I see it as something completely different. He wants to bring the original MGS to a wider audience, aka, multiplatform ;)

I don't really care. a remake would be awesome.

Don't forget to show up at Microsofts presentations of it giving off the vibe that MGS is exclusive to xbox Hideo. While your at it, make sure to put MGS4 on the xbox as well.

Probably won't happen as much as PS2 folks were like give us Twin Snakes. It just wasn't going to happen and will probably never. I can say never in this case right? I mean Hideo did say it wouldn't.

MGS just keeps getting bigger. After I got it running on my Dreamcast I beat the first boss and then got sidetracked. I'd like to get back to it but there's still The Last of Us and the backlog, err.

MGS2 is already in the Metal Gear Solid "HD" collection. I don't think Kojima's studio want there hands tied on that with a new engine (not anytime soon that is, if it does get a new engine).

You have point their but since he has a huge fanbase for the Metal Gear Solid (MG) games, it doesn't sound like he's ready yet. He's a visionaire, if he has more ideas regarding the MGS games, he'll want to take action.

amazing and pathetic how the most anticipated and requested games these days are remakes/ sequels of old school franchises.
what does that say about the state of the current industry?

FF7 remake? Ugh. I found that FF to be one of the most boring entries in the series. I enjoyed FF8 the most and really enjoyed FF9 and FF10. I'm sure I'm not the only one on this boat.

If they can do it well I'd LOVE it. There really was something about that first MGS -- Shadow Moses Island is probably the best locale the series has ever had, every boss was just so memorable and awesome, fighting/hiding in the snow was sweet, I loved the nuclear warehouses you had to snoop around, etc.

Considering how far games have come since then it would probably need to be more of a re-imagining than a straight up remake. But man, I'd be so into it.

I'd only be into this if they got the original voice actors back. If done correctly it would be nostalgic heaven.
