Battalion 1944 Aims To Bring Back The Classic WWII Shooter
Amazing how things come full-circle.
There was a time when it seemed like every new shooter had a World War II theme. Now, it's tough to find even one WWII FPS.
And in response to that lacking, UK developer Bulkhead Interactive has started a Kickstarter campaign for a game called Battalion 1944. It's in the works for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC and it aims to capture "the core of classic multiplayer shooters."
They've released some gameplay footage but as it's only pre-alpha, don't expect to be too impressed. The team needs a minimum of £100,000 to get this one rolling; click through the link above to check out the stretch goals and other rewards you could earn by contributing. Here's one important description from the team:
"In short, Battalion 1944 is an infantry-based first person shooter with an emphasis on raw skill. No grinding, no exosuits,' just you and your skill as a player."
One of the game's more intriguing features is called BattleRank, which is a global competition system. You can join a battalion and compete in a full season to earn all sorts of goodies, including weapons and accessories. We can also expect dedicated servers and "anti-cheat measures" to keep everything as smooth and fair as possible.
The campaign has just started and Bulkhead has until March 3 to raise that £100,000. You can guarantee yourself a copy of the game - expected to launch in May 2017 - if you donate at least £13. The WWII shooter is back!
